Hi guys
I'm moving to Syd for a new job based in CBD. I'll be splitting rent with gf and we have a budget of $400-$500 per week.
Can anyone recommend any strategic places with minimal travel time to the city? Thanks

Are you going to have a car?
Prefer not to drive. Sydney traffic is shocking.
therefore, i agree with madmouse.
Also consider options to the north like north sydney, waverton, woolstoncraft
Probably better off asking Reddit Sydney. Even then, if you want your own place its the dearest city in Australia.
If you are willing to use the public transports I recommend Strathfield and Burwood. They trains pass there to CBC each ~7min. And everything around you ww, Coles Westfield (burwood), Kmart, target…etc (incase if the is bargain in one of these stores). The rent usually around $400 for 1 bedroom.
Give Cammeray a try, it's in between Crows Nest, North Sydney and Neutral Bay, so close to goods pubs and plenty of restaurants, unfortunately the Belgium Beer Cafe in Cammeray closed down, they must be developing there I suppose but still plenty of good cafes and shops in Cammeray. The bus stop where all the shops are, has buses that go straight onto the freeway no stops into the city in 10min.
Leichhardt, Annandale, Stanmore, Camperdown, Glebe
131500.com.au to find out travel times, but it'll be up to 35m bus ride down parra road
400-450 will prolly be a one bedroom, anything around the 500 mark will net up to a small 2 bedroom depending on exact area.
