I have a post-paid mobile phone service with Optus.
I recently had a holiday in Vietnam. I set the above for international roaming for the purpose of receiving text messages ONLY. (For mobile calls in Vietnam and sending text, I bought a local pre-paid SIM card – which was very cheap!)
However I've just received a bill from Optus which incorrectly registers 316 messages being sent out – almost continuously during the 3 weeks I was in Vietnam (samples attached).

Customer Service couldn't help. As far as they are concerned, these were the accounting records which Optus received from the mobile phone service in Vietnam – so they simply passed on to me for payment. They now refer this matter to their technical area for investigations.
Exactly the same problem happened to me 6 months ago when I also travelled to Vietnam. On that occasion, Optus refunded me the incorrect international roaming charges in the form of credits. Since then, I have travelled to many other countries – with no such problems. So this problem appears to be specific to Vietnam only!
I'm interested to hear if any of you have encountered the same problem? And if you have any guess / explanation as to how this could happen?
Much appreciated. Thanks
I've never had the problem of travelling to Vietnam before nor do I ever plan to have that problem.
