Help needed - finding a black suit by Friday

Hi ozb,

I am going to an event where I need to wear a black suit. Because I need it soon, I suppose online ordering is out of the picture. Does anyone know where I could find a reasonable jacket and trousers for a good price?

Edit: sorry I am in Sydney.

Edit: I should also add I will also have a few days in hong Kong where I hear things can be cheap, so if anyone knows whether I should wait until I go to hong Kong and where to go that would be fine too.

    What do you consider a good price? What's your budget? Suits range from $100 to $10,000. Quality goes up as price goes up. Give us a ballpark budget figure!

    my 2 cents. dunno where you are, but Bossini at either chadstone or chapel street (Melbourne). I have a black blazer/sports jacket that doubles as a suit jacket, and black pants, probably cost me under $200 in total (jacket was around 150). note this is not tailor-ed or wool

    define good price.

    Go to YD - you'll find one at pretty much any decent sized shopping centre. Their jackets are excellent, look great and are no more than $300! (generally much cheaper if on sale)

      I'm actually not a fan of YD. Yes they are cheap and can look good but quality is questionable.

    head to G2000
    u should be able to get a suit, shirt and tie if you need for around 1-2k HK (around 150-300 AUD)

    Gentlemen's Outfitters in Newcastle quite often have packages starting at $199. However, it's best if you go into store so you can try it on make sure it fits.

    PS My father once bought a suit in Hong Kong, and for at least 10 years, they sent him Christmas Cards.

    I got my last suit from Myer, it was alright, I've only had it about a month so I can't vouch for longevity. They had a 30% off sale which pushed my over the line. I think it was ~$300 with the sale.

    If you're in Sydney, I passed by this shop in World Square George st almost everyday that advertised suits "from $149". Can't remember exactly the shop name, but it says in very large letters something like The Great Suit Sale on the windows.
    I've never actually gone in, but it's a place you could look into if you want.
