New to this. It says present the card when paying and the amount will be discounted from the bill, but what is 'the amount'? Is it just the $50?

It's not a discounted deal like the Entertainment Book?

    • Hmm not sure. Site has a redeem gift card and check balance link.

  • Tried the XMAS50 and XMAS30 codes and it says they have finished despite saying it ends 11:59 tonight.

    • That's a seperate deal. Sucks they closed it early. Guess they got it mixed up and don't want people claiming both. Released this Guide plus Card one too early I reckon.

Ah - it excludes the Good food gift pack. Only for the cards.

    • Why does this remark get neg votes? Sheesh!

As I read it the Syd/Mel is only the guide you get in the pack. The gift card looks like it can be used Australia wide (hope so).

    • and this one!

Oh sh8T, I just realised the only free thing is the stupid guide! I was thinking I was getting $50 of meal for free (what an idiot).

If you want a guide use TripAdvisor.

  • Pro judges do the Guide. TripAdvisor is just random public.

    • Guide may be useful if you're in Syd/Mel or planning a trip there, but not the rest of us, so I negged the deal. The guide isn't much use to me. You do take TripAdvisor with a grain of salt, but so too pro opinions.

      • Yep, in fact I rely on word of mouth opinions and referals than what pros do. Zagat in the US is a bit dodgy. Michelin for UK back in 90s and early 2000s wasn't up to standard too. Not sure how they are now.

Google bought Zagat to compete against yelp etc. So yeah these physical guides could be fairly useless to most of us.

Most of Australia live on east coast. Always visit Melbourne from Tasmania! Sydney is a great holiday destination too, if I say so myself.

        • So is Perth. Did that and Margaret River in June, lovely place.

  • Please be aware that just because a restaurant is listed in The Good Food Guide book it does NOT automatically mean that they will accept the Restaurant Gift Card. In fact only a small number of restaurants do accept it (but as they are all from The Guide you know they are well regarded! You can see which one's do accept it at https://www.goodfoodgiftcard.com.au/Restaurants/Search
