MASSIVE HERITAGE LIQUIDATION SALE

33

Heritage Fine Wines Pty Ltd (In Liquidation): Every single lot, whether bottle or case, is being offered totally unreserved with a $9 starting price. All wines have been stored in a professional climate controlled environment.

Heritage Fine Wines was a wine investment company that collapsed over two years ago. The liquidator, Nicholas Crouch of Crouch Insolvency, values this cache at $2.5 million, making it one of the biggest and most keenly awaited wine auctions in history.

This sale includes some rare finds plus bottles from the companys private label wines, under brand names such as Mouthpiece, Secret Places and Binder Mitchell, and made by top winemakers such as Kevin Mitchell at Kilikanoon and Paul Lindner of Langmeil.

Heritage Fine Wines was founded by Simon Farid and Ben Tilley and placed in voluntary administration in March 2005, with the directors blaming a downturn in sales, high overheads and increased competition in overseas markets. At the time it held more than 1.3 million bottles of premium wine on behalf of 3000 customers who had invested over $70 million in the company.

  • Hmm. It's an auction so the price is not determined. Also from my past experience with Graysonline, you might not even get the best price after factoring in all the fees.

  • They are still selling heaps of wine. The cheapest I've got was total price of $2 a bottle for WA red. Agree that prices can be all over the place and you have to be careful factoring in freight and buyer's commission. They sell lots of other stuff there. I've got some good buys but you have to know the market price of what you are bidding on.
