Health Insurance

Hi all.
Just a general question to members here about health insurance and who has got the best deals.
If you can state your situation and your cover to see who has got the best deals.
Also can you tell on your experience with the company - esp with claiming.

Me:

Married, looking to have kids in the next 2-3 years.
I have been offered by HBA insurance: hospital and extras. About $150/month.
The pregnancy/baby related cover adds quite a bit to the insurance. At the moment I am with an old Medibank Pricate plan paying $70/month, but it covers bugger all!
The above are prices per couple.

      I saw on my tax return that Medicare took x hundreds of dollars, yet I didn't go to the doctor once… is there a way to opt out?

        Do you mean the 1.5% Medicare surcharge? You can't "opt out" from it but you can get private health insurance instead.

    have you checked iselect? i hear that there service is actually pretty good and is 100% free as they get money from the health insurance companys.

    might want to check it out

    I'm with Westfund and they seem to be OK - just be cautious as every provider seem to have various inclusions and exclusions - old advice is that you get what you pay for :)

    I think there is a government run site that is better than iselect which only has the major companies listed.
