Portable DVD player suitable for home use? Please help.

Hi all,

I apologise if I am submitting my question in the wrong forum. I am looking for a portable DVD suitable for home use? A screen 12inches or more would be ideal and a fairly descent battery life.

Most of the deals I have found searching Google are not available in Australia.

Hope you can help. Thanks.

    Buy a laptop.

Try the Toshiba c50 for under $276 dollars that comes with a DVD slot. Or you could buy a second hand laptop via eBay if you need it as cheap as possible.

A DVD player with a 10 inch display already costs you around $150 dollars. Why would you pay $150 for a device that only has one function? These things would be gathering dust in most people's garages.

Standalone DVD players nowadays are fairly redundant, considering most people would rip a DVD on a pc using DVD ripping software then store it digitally to be played back using their tablet or phone.

i haven't had much experience with portable dvd players, though i would assume using a laptop as a primary dvd player would have a few negatives; longer startup times (has to boot windows etc), also would not come with an included remote (can just use a bluetooth mouse on a laptop). value wise, yes, a laptop would be a better choice.
