Targeted Scam: [email protected]

Hi all,

Got this email from [email protected] today.

Considering all the typos, I hesitated to click on the link provided.

Upon further inspection, I also noticed it is from woolworth and not woolworths.

My scam sensor cried out loud after that.

    Are you Serious?

Woolworths would never send an email with some many spelling and punctuation errors in it. I don't think the ozbargain community needs to be "beware" of this one. You shouldn't be "interneting" if you can't pick up the most basic of scams, which clearly this one is. From a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the hardest scam to spot, i'd give this a 2.

      Am I serious?

I am only trying to highlight a phishing scam. Considering all the previous woolies online deals here, I'm just worried that the not-so-internet savy bargainers will fall for the trap. You don't become a scam detector overnight mate, neither do you become an instant bargainer by joining our community.

I'll remove the specific warning for ozbargainers to beware and hopefully you'll feel better that way.

      Hi escimojoe.

Whilst I agree its an obvious scam I don't share your trust of the ozbargain communities capabilities. For example just look how many times people post a link to fake ray ban websites selling pairs 88% off! Try to appreciate not everyone out there is as gifted as you and that this forum is for them too!

So THANKYOU Xabiso. Phishers are arses.

      • Or whinge about how they spend so much money at supermarkets and then say they spend 3 times less.

Then their immaturity shows when they can't maths.

Yep, the Internet has lots of idiots. Just a reflection of the real world really.

It is obviously a scam, but thanks xabiso for taking the time to tell everyone on OzB about it anyway! :)

  • I'm always amazed how many people drop the S from Woolworths.

  • Looks suspicious!
