Using Optus $2 Days for Home Broadband

Hi all

Can anyone more tech savvy advise if it would be possible to the Optus $2 daily plan (500MB/day) for internet on a laptop? What equipment would be needed? We don't have a copper phone line so wireless broadband is the only option - at current we have Telstra Next G wireless and it is really expensive - we pay about $120 a month for 8gig (which we always run out of) and a home phone (which is probably not necessary). Telstra gets the best signal here but we also get decent vodafone reception.. I think OPtus would be okay with an antenna?
Excuse my ignorance but the whole broadband service thing confuses me - would be much easier with a copper line or cable!

Mate, regional Austrlian broadband is on par with downtown Kinshasa. WTF happened to the smart country!!

    Anyway I have

TL-MR3420+ USB dongle (with external aerial port) + sim + (optional external arial)= upto 240 kbps usually 70-100 kbps

Tried the external aerial (@$200) but it was a waste of money.
To be honest it works best when I put the dongle on an extension USB cable and put it in an old colander on the roof.
    I'm on Optus @ 15gb/$55

If you get a decent Vodafone connection, I would recommend getting the Pocket Wi Fi from this #deal(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/173597) or currently the same price at Kmart.

The one I purchased was unlocked straight out of the box which means you can use the 3GB of data that comes along with it & once the data on that is exhausted, you can then pop in the Optus sim you would like to use or any other sim. Might only have to change the APN settings on the device but that is simple enough to do.
