I don't believe you can sell Tupperware online in this way and not with the discounts either. It's Tupperware and other direct selling companies way of making sure that their 'consultants' aren't under cut by someone offering unauthorised discounts and keeping their prices at a premium.
It also means that customers feel more secure because they know that the site and money is handled by Tupperware rather than a consultant.

I wish your wife the best of luck, direct selling isn't as easy or glamorous as most of the people that recruit pretend it is. An independent website (if discovered by Tupperware) will likely result in the consultant having her ID revoked and no longer being allowed to sell.

Sounds like you sell tupperware and want to protect your margin?

Always hated direct sales companies for this exact reason… (I'm waiting for the negs to roll in for my comment.)

No I don't sell Tupperware but good on you for having a snarky response rather than taking in the information given.

Tupperware operates by having someone recruited, this person with the impression given that they can make extra money as well as having fun and free products. However Tupperware is aware that most consultants most profitable parties are their six, that is why they offer 'free' (:read they take your commission as payment) products if you achieve certain targets.
Consultants are also groomed by potentially lucrative commissions in to recruiting and this is what keeps them ticking over.

The consultants get their kit (Tupperware profits)
The consultants sell products (Tupperware profits)
The consultant doesn't quite hit their targets and so they find excuses as to why they personally need to 'invest' (Tupperware profits)
The consultants recruit and the cycles starts over (Tupperware profits)
The consultant can't find any more party's or orders due to the nature of the business and this is normally the point that they stop selling Tupperware.

A small percentage of people do very well, most do not.

In order to protect this model steps need to be taken, future consultants don't want to be discouraged by comments like 'oh but why buy from you when I can get it cheaper from X' so direct selling companies take steps to allow their own online stores but no others.

I didn't make the comment to discourage or insult, I wanted to inform you that your website is likely out of compliance and could result in your partner being stripped of her ability to sell.

Wife sold Tupperware a number of years ago and wasnt allowed to sell on ebay, online or facebook. Interesting point the only country where Tupperware is sold from shops is China because it is illegal to have a meeting in a home.

        • @coin saver: I will look into sourcing from China then…

      Hi,

I know that during the party, the consultant can give discounts to family and friends which I believe it's really up to them.

Well I think paypal is safer as far as I know that during party, credit cards info and cash get exchanged manually whereas paypal you have the buyer protection.

I don't see it differently from a traditional party and it's just online party. :)

Do people seriously buy this stuff ???

People have been selling Tupperware through eBay etc for years. Most I know are consultants who use it as a way to bolster sales because they cannot get parties.

As someone who personally hates parties, I have no issue in buying online (via eBay or direct through Tupperware).

And yes, JV, people do pay those prices because the stuff lasts decades. Sure, the colours may change but even 70's Tupperware is back in fashion now :)
