This was mentioned in response to a previous topic, but for anyone who missed it, Sony is offering free 3yr Warranty on all Bravia models bought between now (October 1st) and December 31st, 2009.

Pretty good deal seeing as the norm is 1yr, and 5yr extended warranty can cost close to $300 from some places.

  • is that for Sony Bravia's purchased anywhere or only at Sony stores? If its anywhere pretty awesome deal for those looking at getting a new TV…

    • From the Terms and Conditions:

This offer is only available to Australian residents aged 18 years or over who:

      • purchase a BRAVIA LCD TV from a participating authorised Australian Sony dealer between 1 October 2009 and 31 December 2009; and
      • register for the extended warranty at www.sony.com.au/TVwarranty, via phone on 1300 872 657, or complete the form on the tear pad in store and send to: Sony Warranty Department, GPO Box 9872, Brisbane QLD 4001 by 31/01/2009.

The only problem is when you click to find the list of authorised dealers it brings you to the page of service centres. I assume the major department stores will be authorised though.

    • All major Retailers are considered to be 'Authorised dealers'. Bing Lee, Harvey Norman, JB Hifi, Domayne, Dick Smith etc are all fine.

  • Good deal considering what you will save (and I'm sure it's not something that will prevent you haggling the price down at retail given its an online redemption) but to be honest 3 year warranties should be about standard when you're spending anywhere from 2 to 5k+ on a television.

  • i thought LCD come with 3 years warranty? the last samsung i got has 3 yrs warranty (found that out the hard way when the salesman tried to sell me 5 year warranty for an extra 100 - he told me it only came with one year …)

    • I think Samsung are doing one year warranties now….the 2008 models were the last to carry a three year warranty as standard if I recall correctly.

I think Sony has been one year for a while now.
