There are so many different brands of these out there and I'm lost. What mAh should I be looking for, what brands are reputable? And finally - where can I buy one that I can be certain that it is genuine without getting ripped off. Thanks!

I bought a "100% original Xiaomi" from AliExpress and it was a fake :(

I've done a bit more research and think that the Xiaomi one seems to be a good choice. They offer both thinner and larger ones than the 10400mAh that I posted originally.
I've looked on a few sites and came across this great price from a Reddit thread in the Xiaomi subreddit. Someone there bought one and claims it is authentic, so I might give it a try. $21.99 AUD with free shipping worldwide.

That one had good reviews and was verified as genuine in a previous ozb deal by posters.
That said, mine never arrived and I'm still waiting for the replacement one to arrive from BG.
Size vs capacity is always your trade-off, depends how you want to use it as to what size is best for you.
