I've been charged twice for annual membership fee.
Once on 31 May 2009 and another on 28 September 2009.
What gives?
Anyone else have this happening to them?

@proudwanderer - As I explained in the email, membership years are based on the date you join, not calendar years. If you join on the 1st July 2008, your membership year ends on the 30th June 2009, so it is possible depending on your purchases that you may have a membership fee deducted in June 2009 for your first years membership and you may then have an annual membership fee deducted in October 2009 for year 2 as you've earnt enough. So it may appear that you've paid twice in 2009, whereas the membership has spanned 2 membership years.

I didn't know that you charge $10 for previous years as well - even if the mbc account is not used.
So going by your explanation …. let's say I set up an account and never use it for 10ys …. then use it to buy something with a $100 cashback …. which means after all those years catch up on me, I've got ZERO for it then?
In such a scenario, I may as well have set up a brand new account then …. so that I don't have to be paying for past unused years.
No, we only charge the membership when you earn something in that membership year. Say in year 1 your only earnt $4.50, we'd hold that as your membership fee on your membership anniversary. Then in year 2 you earn $400, we hold $10 membership fee for that year, then in year 3 and 4 you earn nothing, we don't withhold anything (obviously), then in membership year 5 you earn $200, we withhold $10 membership for year 5 only, membership is not accumulated across years.

My membership anniversary date is 20-Jun (joint at 20-Jun-2007).
Here are my transaction.
$10.00 annual membership fee on 27-Jul-2009
$10.00 annual membership fee on 29-Sep-2009From the definition of Steve, the annual fee is charged incorrectly. I expect to pay only once membership fee between 20-Jun-2009 to 20-Jun-2010.
I think they charge you in advance - not in arrears.
So you have paid $10 for 20-jun-08 to 20-jun-09 .. and $10 for 20-jun-09 to 20-jun-10
@uniwon - as I explained in my email to you, membership is charged based on the transactions that your make during your membership year. Even though transactions for your second year occured withing the membership year we didn't receive payment until some time after they'd occured, in this case in July 2009 for a transactioin made well before 19th June 2009, and so that is when we withheld your membership for year 2. You then made a transction close to the anniversary date in membership year 3, and so we've withheld membership for year 3 in September, we will not withhold any more membership until you make a transction after 20th June 2010. It appears we've withheld membership twice for year 3, we haven't, we've just withheld membership for year 2 and year 3.
@proudwanderer - we don't withhold membership in advance, we can't, we withhold it once you've earnt enough in that membership year.
