9th Avenue - Save up to 80% on Major Brands - Launching 5th Dec

Hi All,

A close friend of mine is starting an online flash sales site called 9thavenue.com.au, launching with some Prada handbags, Chloe Swimwear and a number of other high end fashion items. They have 6 main categories that their products are part of:

  • Womens Fashion
  • Mens Fashion
  • Kids & Babies
  • Home & Living
  • Accessories
  • Gourmet Food.

I'm just trying to help him spread the word. Below is an excerpt about the company:

We are an online retail company that does flash sales, meaning every week we have different products available to purchase. Our business model is based on reserving stock with suppliers and not ordering it until the customer has purchased the product. This way we only purchase what we have sold, which means we can keep our costs down and it means we can sell it a lot cheaper to the customer. The only downside is that for items coming from overseas it can take some time for you to get the product, but we aim to keep all our customers informed about delivery times. Some items will be up to 80% of recommended retail price. We will be launching with some Prada handbags, Chloe Swimwear and a number of other high end fashion items.

We have 6 main categories that our products are part of: Womens Fashion, Mens Fashion, Kids & Babies, Home & Living, Accessories and Gourmet Food.

The website is launching on the 5th of December. But we have now launched our PreLaunch website, which allows you to earn up to 25% discount on a purchase. The idea here is that you goto our website and enter your email address. You can then share this via email, facebook or twitter and every friend of yours that signs up, the website will keep track and when you reach certain milestones you will earn some discounts.

Please be kind and don't abuse me in the comments :) I was the one that brought you one of the better Eneloop deals

    Well that sucks… http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/71195/26908/ozb9thavenu…

Must send to over 100 people (and they must sign up too) to qualify for 25% discount. Thanks for mentioning that so clearly /sarc

    Too complicated.

    5 gets 5%
    10 get 10%
    …so 25 gets 25%? Nope.

    Dimishing returns. 25 gets 15%
50, double that only gets another 5%!?! So backwards.
Then double again for another measly 5%.

Might be worth spamming all your friends and family if it was 50%. Even at a marginal loss, 9th Av will get all that free 'marketing'. Bet only a dozen or so people (most likely with a 10,000 mailing list or blog) in the fashion industry will get to the 100 referrals.

Good luck though, but doubt it'll take off unless it is different and gets over $10mn funding.

If you must join, then let's see how many I get from OzB: http://www.9thavenue.com.au/fnum/obewzq9

    • Yeah I agree the referral system can be better, but I'm just hoping the deals themselves makes up for it!

      • Too polite. Could be better, sure it can because it sucks.

        • My mate has taken your feedback and changed the referral scheme. Now it is a 1:1 scheme (e.g. 25 referrals gets you 25% off a purchase).

The launch had to be delayed for a week due to technical reasons, so still time to refer away :)

  • Or they just realised they overestimated the sign up quantity.

Again, doubt many people will get to 100 referrals. Should be under 30. Or 20.
