  • Thanks for the link in the D3300 post! Grabbing this one instead - clutch save, WNK! Really didn't want to buy anything from shady DSE anyway.

Unfortunately there is no stock for this in any of the stores in my city, so I can't do store pickup. Just to confirm, the Nikon cashback deal is good even when you get it delivered from TGG Ebay, right?

Replying to my own post - I spoke to both the TGG online team and a local TGG store and they both confirmed that this is eligible for the Nikon cash-back offer even if you have it delivered to your doorstep.

Now I have to deal with this Paypal issue. Wish they accepted debit card :\

      • Thanks for the link.
For the $100 cash back, I am wondering which one to select in the Retailer location dropdown box.

        • The local store told me that any item purchased from Ebay is shipped from an actual Good Guys store, and when you make the purchase and obtain the receipt, it will let you know which store your item was shipped from. That's the store you put in the relevant section of the cash-back page :)

        • @Kazielle: Thanks heaps :D

        • @lxdnhm: No problem! :)

  • Looks like a good deal. Am a relative newbie when it comes to DSLRs and was considering the $499 deal on canon eos 700D from camera house and this comes up now.

Did a quick compare of the 2 models and apparently this is better. Can some experts confirm?
    http://versus.com/en/nikon-d5200-vs-canon-eos-700d

    • I've been researching all day, i'm no expert but my friend is.

We both came to the conclusion that the d3300 is better after comparing, and also a newer model.

He also has used Nikon his whole life.

      • Are you saying the D3300 is better than the D5200 and the 700D, or are you on the wrong OzBargain page (or meant the D5200, not the 3300)? :) From what I've researched, it seems the D5200 is a slightly better version of the D3300 (which is still a great camera).

better comparison of specifications from dpreview

a few comments on the differences and some very incorrect information being pointed out by versus:

      • yes the Nikon has more MP and a bigger sensor but keep in mind that's a ~33% gain in MP over only a ~10% gain in sensor size
      • 39 focus points vs 9 - well the canon has touchscreen focus so the 39 focus points of the Nikon really is moot
      • the canon does have a stereo mic and does have 24fps albeit only 60fps on 720p
      • yes the Nikon does 1080 @ 50/60fps but it's only interlaced not progressive and also gets automatically cropped
      • the canon does have phase detection in video recording the Nikon does not. but they're both slow anyway
      • the canon does have continuous auto focus in video recording
      • of course the canon can be controlled remotely………..

I can't comment on the IQ/VQ of either but just have a read of the reviews on dpreview: 700D & D5200

However, I do have a feeling that in general, Nikon DSLRs are better in IQ than Canons. The only reason why I got the 700D was because of the touchscreen functionality. Found it very very useful and cannot go back.

PS Don't ever use versus or snapsort for comparisons. They have a lot of incorrect information.

Purchased this camera and lens kit back in April this year. I am still a complete amateur but I've had a lot of fun playing with this camera. It is very beginner friendly and the lens kit is very versatile. A really great combo for anyone looking to get into photography as a hobby.

  • Do invoices have buyer's name on it? A mate is going to overseas. Thinking of getting him to claim gst from trs.

    • AFAIK both TGG and DSE do

guys also don't forget the extra 2% cashrewards cashback.. or even the 6% ebates cashback going atm

      • Care to provide a link to a noob like me who doesn't know what you're talking about? Probably too late for me, since I already made my purchase, but for the sake of knowledge.. :)

  • Just bought one.

  • Does Anybody have any idea about the warranty on this from TGG? I couldn't find any information about warranty on either their eBay page or from their official website. I am guessing the warranty comes from Nikon directly?

Not cool TGG. Price was upped this morning from $729 to $798. Had it in my cart last night at the cheaper price and now not there (of course)

    • LAME!

    • yes pretty lame.

I purchased the item yesterday, with the discount code, for $588 + some cents. I just looked at my Paypal and I was charged not only the full price, but a higher price than the product was listed for yesterday. My mind is blown.

They don't seem to have applied the coupon even though the applied voucher shows up in my order details, check this out:

    Order total

    Subtotal $729.00
    Postage $5.00
    Total voucher amount -$145.80
    Total
    $734.00

What the heck? Did this happen to anyone else? I've sent them a message but I'm wondering if I'm the only one this happened to.

    • did u apply the voucher code at checkout?
i just bought it today at the price of $634 after 20% discount at ebay and i will cashback $100 tomorrow. Badluck didn't buy it yesterday when the price was still $729 instead of $798. But good luck with your refund,

      • Yup, I did. It's weird, in my email receipt from Ebay it shows the correct final price, but if I click on my item order details on Ebay, it shows a total $734 with the voucher code 'applied' but not taking any money off the final total. Very annoying and quite startling as $734 was taken out of my bank account instead of $588, which would have resulted in fees and possibly a huge headache if I didn't have more than enough to cover it in my account. I was just wondering if Ebay was perhaps having a problem with the code and if it was happening to more people than just me.

Thanks for letting me know yours went through okay - sorry you missed the cheaper price!

  • Ordered on 1st Dec. Still haven’t got the camera. My order was assigned to a Tasmanian store. Called them. They said no stock, waiting for stock.
