$50 for 2 bottles ($139.95 RRP) of Vodka (includes shipping) - Delivery Jan 2015

90

An Aussie company is offering their Vodka and Vodka liqueur at a considerable discount as part of a marketing/crowdfunding campaign.

$50 for two bottles is cheaper than average international brands from my understanding. To clarify, this is effectively $25/bottle.

No target needs to be hit for the deal to be live, but the $50 deal is limited to first 1000 bottles (higher quantities are not limited i.e. $250 for 10 bottles). You still receive your Vodka regardless of whether the deal hits its target.

Delivery Jan 2015 (unfortunately a bit late for xmas presents).

Confirmation of $139.95 RRP on their store: http://www.dotauvodka.com.au/store/

PS: I am affiliated with the crowdfunding platform, can answer questions about the platform but will have to seek guidance from the Company regarding any specific product related questions.

  • How many standard drinks in each of the two different bottles?

  • DOT AU bottle shows 700ml @ 40% alcohol.

Not sure about the "Bloody Oath" as pictures don't make it clear, will have to ask to Co - will post when I have the answer.

    Alarm bells going off…..

How is the RRP determined? I can't seen to find it for sale anyway except on the company website. How long has the website been around? How long has the brand been around. What awards have been won, where were they won, and when?

I'm not a Vodka connoisseur as such, but have been known to dabble. Why would I take a chance on this brand when I can pick up Grey Goose on special (without having to wait until January to receive it)?

    • Exactly my thinking…how would i know / trust the quality from unknown brand…maybe its metholated spirit! :p

I also disagree slightly this is a deal. Its for crowdfunding so this post might as well be marketing spam.

    • yep 100% agree

From the info on their website and the crowdfunding page: "Aussie Vodka Pty Ltd is a privately owned producer of the Gold Medal award winning DOT AU Vodka and Bloody Oath Vodka Liqueur. Founded in 2006 and based in Perth Western Australia, our premium vodka brands are currently being distributed in Western Australia and some parts of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane."

      Awards are here: http://www.dotauvodka.com.au/well-done/

Why take the chance? Well, hard to go wrong at this price while supporting Australian companies.

        Why take the chance?

As ticket65 stated can buy a known brand on special - right now.

        Awards are here

Well awards were 93 points and 94 points given by the Beverage Tasting Institute in the USA
        Mr Wiki states

The Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) is a marketing service company that provides reviews for spirits, wines, and beers

        Finally from the web site

..a blend of deep spring waters from ancient springs, cut Queensland sugar cane and a secret triple filtration system..

        Sugar cane for Vodka ?

        • +1

Might not be true potato vodka but it's Australia's version perhaps? Just like other white sparklings are mislabeled Champagne when it's not from the Champagne region in France.

Can make alcohol from just about anything that will ferment with sugar.

Not sure if sugar cane is native or well known internationally as Australian, but maybe if Kakadu plums are they could make a sweet fruity grog from it. That'd be awesome.

What is native to Australia anyways? Don't think pineapple is. That'd make a nice drink. The Dutch do a lychee liquer but I think lychee is Asian.

        • So its Rum not Vodka if its from sugar cane

      • Hi pwn could you list some associated establishments to try the spirits

        • I do not have those details, but will ask the Company and get back to you.

    Do these prices include shipping?

    EDIT Read the title, tantryl.

It just doesn't mention it on the crowd funding page is all.

I got a bottle of this on my shelf as a gift very recently from a friend who is associated with the company. I can vouch the Vodka is great and bottling/packaging is equally as good!

  • So if I want 10 bottles I can pay $25 each for them? Pretty good margin, not sure how anyone would pay $140 retail for it then. $50 is pretty good but $25 is better.

I'll take two, and get 4 more OzBers to take the other 8. I'm in Brisbane, but driving down to Sydney in mid January and can meet up with another person for their 2 bottles.

Oops, it's two bottles, one plain for $80 and other (wood aged?) liqueur for $60.

Plus comes with real gold nuggets which is cool.

re-read if you select the $50 option it is in fact for 2 bottles. I think this is where the confusion is coming from. Otherwise those who are bieng neg on this deal can you tell me where I can get a drinkable bottle of vodka for $25 let alone one that markets itself as "premium"

      • Ah yes, stunning deal if it's really a 93 pointer. $25 is amazing.

        • It's only 1 star

        • @Baysew: didn't see that. 1 star out of 5? What would most other 1 stars cost?

  • what happens if pledges don't reach the goal ?
do we still get the vodka or is it all cancelled ?

@adamren the $250 party pack is 10 bottles which is a different pledge than the $250 limited edition (one bottle of limited edition + gold nugget).
so party packs are essentially the same price per bottle as buying $50 early bird….no real extra saving as shipping is included anyway.

    • You still get the reward. Will edit the deal to make it clearer.

    Hey OP
Get them to start shipping the bottles straight away and I think they will have better success. I'm tempted but why should I buy now and wait 2 months to receive it when I could keep the money in my pocket and get before 12th January and still get it at the same time.

Just a suggestion since there is only 9 backers so far.

    • Agree. Might get just in time for Christmas!

      • -1

Christmas is in December, not 12th of January.
Why such the poor delivery times ?

        • +1

Exactly….and its meant to be an Australian company?!?

        • Was saying how I wish they could deliver in 3 to 4 weeks and not next year.

        • -1

Well it's not going to happen

        • @Baysew: adamren knows that. That's why it's a wish. That's what a wish is - something virtually impossible magically happening.
