GOT Ripped by The $80 Voucher for $100 Spend of Woolworths Online, Which Purchased from Groupon

this is what happened, got a voucher from Groupon for spending at Woolworths Online, received the code but did not work, tried at least 10 times before I contacted Groupon, was told to contact Woolworths (which for common sense is incorrect because Woolworths would not do anything at all, and I had to tell the lady from Groupon that Woolworths would just keep advising me to contact to the seller which is Groupon) but I reassured her that it would not work, and because Groupon is the original seller of this voucher hence they have the responsibility to have it figured out for me (the voucher expired within 30 days from 1-30 Nov, that's why you pay 80 bucks to spend 100 buck-worth of items). Groupon told me to wait for few days (from 7-10 days) for them to work it out, within few days they got back to me with an email and said that it would be ok now to use the voucher, as soon as I tried, did not work again, contacted Groupon with an email straight away then never hear from them again. Because today is 28th, I am out of patient already (got the voucher on 5th and cannot use it since), rang Groupon, was told … to contact Woolworths again, I was really pissed, asked for refund and they said to give them another 7-10 days. Could not stand it, rang Woolworths just to reassured that Woolworths would not do anything for this case, and I was confirmed by a male staff named Mitchell. Thinking about a transaction dispute hence rang PayPal, picked up by a lady and the first thing she RE_ASSURED me was: 'online voucher blah blah is intangible hence not under their protection', I was like 'wtf! then why would I have to use PayPal for'. So, I am now sick of you two: Groupon and PayPal

sorry if this is a stupid question… are you putting the code into the "coupon code" space, which is before you get to the payment page?

  • Mine worked.

  • Mine worked too.
But thanks for sharing your story. it is a good warning to us all, that we are all taking a risk for all this hassle to save 20%. i'm sure there are other customers who just "forget about it".

If you have your credit/debit card linked to Paypal, do a chargeback via your bank.

  • I know someone who got it and worked.

  • Was planning to use it today and realised that my voucher has expired. Is there anything I can do or is $80 down the drain?
