System abuses will not be tolerated

I have updated our terms and services to include the following changes:

• You shall not upload contents onto media file uploader that are not referenced or used by this site, OzBargain.com.au. Using media file uploader as a general file sharing platform is prohibited.
• You, as an individual, shall not have multiple account, unless you have written permission to do so. Multiple accounts belong to the same individual will be terminated.

I absolutely hated it when people come in to abuse the system. A post was submitted 1 hour ago titled "FREE $20 deposit when opening an online saving account", and within 27 minutes it got 6 votes and went all the way up to the top of the front page.

Sorry. This is not Digg/Netscape/Reddit, and I know the state of traffic on this site, especially on a quiet Friday night.

Looking at the 6 different accounts that voted for that post, they are obviously all coming from the same ISP in the same city, although the "Location" field are places all around Australia. This is not on, as our terms and conditions cleared stated that "You must provide current, accurate identification…" And while I am typing this, he has just created another account…

I know that you must be desperate to have your "deal" placed on the front-page, but please don't game the system. Members of this site will judge whether the deal is good or bad. (And don't pretend to be another person commenting on your own post either).

Now, why is that person so desperate is something to be discussed — and the fact that he asked everyone to use his name as referral to sign up a bank account might give you a hint. Posting "affiliated links" on this site is a topic yet to be discussed, which I would like to ask one for opinion in a different post.

So for now, if you are logging in again you will have to accept the updated T&C. As of those who abused the system, their accounts will be terminated.
