Astone AP-300 from 1saleaday.com.au... has anyone received confirmation of shipping?

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16993

Hi all, I may be jumping the gun a little here, but has anyone who ordered one of these received a shipping confirmation email? I ordered on Wednesday the 23rd September.

Last time I ordered from these guys I got two emails with 24 hours, one confirming the order, and the other confirming that the order had shipped.

Thanks heaps guys!

  • nope…..nothing for me yet……

  • hmmm. hopefully just taking a little time processing orders :)

  • Same here, nothing yet! It's not just you Topher, I'm getting a bit antzy too, last order I placed with these guys the second email confirming shipping came exactly 10 hours after the first!

  • Did you guys notice that they have swapped the phone line with the fax line?

When I try to ring through their nominated phone number (03 9572 3977), I got the buzzer tone for fax. However, when I try the fax line (03 9572 3988), I got through to the voice message.

Hey guys, sorry about this. There have been some delays but the items are being shipped within the next 24 hours so hopefully people will start getting them by the end of the week/ Monday. Apologies again.

    • great, thanks for the update :).

  • Thanks for the update Zac.

  • I just got an email to say the item shipped.

    • Yep, me too! :)

  • Is this 1saleaday website down for anyone else?

  • Just having some data centre issues, will be up and running shortly guys.

  • their website is still down :(

  • Site is up now for me. Just need to find out if we can track packages.

  • I have also ordered on 23/9 and it arrived this morning. Very happy with the unit. Anyone who missed can order from skycomp today for $212 + $16 postage.

  • My unit just arrived but unfortunately I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with the choice of packaging used during postage. The useless single-layer bubble-wrap Jiffy Mail-Lite packaging provides no shock protection, so my box arrived very badly damaged. The metal casing has two huge dents in it! Something heavy like this needs much more padding. I told my friend about the deal and he ordered one also, lucky for him it arrived safe and sound.

The 1saleaday website says to download an RMA form and post the item back to them if damaged in transit. I will NOT be happy if they expect me to pay return postage for something that was damaged in transit due to extremely poor packaging choice! I will try to contact the site directly tomorrow to see what they can do about refunding return postage. The RMA form also says to include a copy of the email invoice, however no emails arrived and no receipt was included with the delivered product.

Aside from that issue, the Astone AP-300 itself is fantastic. It still works even though there are two huge dents in the metal casing. Very solid feel about the unit (it quite obviously survived at least one or two bumps in transit, with the scars to prove it). So far it's played every format I've thrown at it - DivX, MPEG1, MPEG2, WMV, RealMedia, and FLV movies saved from YouTube. Upscaling looks fantastic through HDMI on a 1080p Sony LCD. The remote is a little disappointing because it doubles-up on buttons meaning the Play, Stop, FF/RW buttons suddenly become number buttons in certain modes, meaning it's very fiddly to time-search and jump to a certain place in a movie, but I'll probably get used to it after a few days of usage. I can't yet find a way to display Time Remaining for a movie but if that feature isn't hidden somewhere, I'll email Astone with some feedback and hopefully a firmware update can fix it.

Will post more details as I find out more information. Hopefully this unfortunate situation can be resolved easily.

Make sure you upgrade the firmware to the latest version (v.1.7 Beta2). It was released on October 8th. Although a beta, the new user interface is a lot better than the one that shipped with v1.6 and is well worth the install.

The only downside is that I will have to manually add the controls to my logitech universal remote because the device has not been added to the product database. Has anyone already done this? If so, is it better than the standard remote?

    Update:
Works well with the logitech remotes. I have programmed all the buttons and have been using it for a few hours. Make sure you change the button delays for the device to 200ms or less, otherwise the lag is annoying.

  • Thanks for that update Grimzentide!
