LPG Refills ($18) / Swaps ($23) at Rays Outdoors (This Weekend Only)

270

This came through my email today (no direct link, as its instore only - of course!)

I personally prefer to have my bottles filled rather than swap'n'go as I know the quality of my bottle and that its been stored under my BBQ.

The cheapest I've found in Canberra for a refill is $25, but I know a few places on NSW North Coast that are about the same price.

Masters usually has cheaper empty gas bottles (if you're in Canberra, there's a Rays next door to Masters at Majura).

EDIT: Credit to Sween64, who got a Swap'n'go for $23 - available where Rays don't go gas fills

  • The BCFs also do refills, my local one is normally $19.99, but it ranges from store to store. Also watch out when buying a gas bottle, cheaper ones are often grade 1 and more expensive ones are grade 2

  • Which parts of Australia is this deal for?

    • Going to assume Australia wide - but thats only if your local fills up; see below for specials on Swap'n'Go

    • Ray's Outdoors in Hobart (Moonah) does refills; it's got the $17.99 special this weekend. Note that price is only for 9kg refills, with 4/4.5kg refills costing $15.50/$16.50.

I always keep a spare, currently empty from a recent BBQ swapover so timing is good if I can find a reason to head that way. Thanks for posting.

    • yep. same. always keep at least one bottle spare somewhere - although I still have to be mindful - recently my weber and pizza oven ran out of gas during a party. Had a spare + the 1/2 bottle from the outdoor gas heater.

No filling service at my local Ray's (Nunawading, VIC) but a 8.5kg Swap is $22.95 down from $34.95. Great timing as my spare bottle ran out only a couple of weeks ago.

    • For those not close to a Ray's, Bunnings or Masters may beat the price for a gas swap. Here's a receipt.

    • ~$23 is the standard price at Bunnings I think.

      • Good point - Rays might be better to go if you hate going to Bunnings (I hate going there,.. but love the fact that I have a 4WD, so I can cut across the grass; getting out of Belconnen would even test Ghandi's patience).

You may also try to get a price beat, as Rays is $0.03 cheaper than Bunnings

With Masters, better of printing the code for 10% (saves the hassle of price beat)

  • Anyone know what places will swap/refill gas bottles that are out of date? I have a good one and expired one, but the expired one is in good nick, been inside a shed most of its life.

  • As mentioned before, I can confirm that the average Bunnings price is less than 23 bucks. Although that is a very good deal for a refill

  • I was chatting online with Masters. They have swap and go for under $23 as well. Combine with 10% masters code and it's cheaper.

With a swap and go the 9kg includes the weight of the bottle whereas a refill they should be filling it up full and therefore more gas for your buck.

  • Can confirm that this deal is NOT available in Canberra

  • Good deal OP. Maybe a bit too popular - my local has been flooded with people and ran out of gas!
