Blurb says "SALE OF THE SEASON" and "Inspired by Black Friday & Cyber Week across the Pacific!" so, unsure about expiry.
Has many 5 star reviews on Amazon - too many to be genuine, IMO. [I usually ignore extreme (ie. 5 and 1) star reviews anyway.]

$5 credit for the referrer.
If you attach Roar to PC using microUSB - will it by default be detected as a sound card or as microSD card reader?
Does it have headphone out?

That was one of my concerns. It in fact defaults to soundcard and not microsd reader.

Thanks… I think this is a change from original release - plenty of Amazon and web-site reviews state the opposite, where as the current Creative manual states as your experience.
So, if one buys now, which version does one get?
Yeah i believe this is correct. You'll get the SR20A model. The original is the SR20 i think.
Technically if you got the MegaStereo cable and a female to female 3.5mm headphone adapter you could connect a pair of headphones as the "slave" device… but music would still come out of the Roar as well…
Interesting. Not sure if this will work because a standard aux cable cannot be used to pair 2 roars even though physically they are the same. So the megastereo cable is technically different in someway that it might not output properly to a regular female 3.5mm adapter.
@bangmango: Only the end of the cable plugged into the "master" speaker is special (a 4 pole cable), the other end (or "slave" device) is a standard 3.5mm plug… don't see any reason why it wouldn't work based on that :)
Tom's Guide gives it 4 out of 5 stars, so that's good enough for me.
Thanks for that deal AlexF, just ordered one!
Does this better than Bose soundlink?
Yeah, does it?
It does much better!:)
Soundlink mini needs a refresh, it's looking dated. The big bass sound and small form factor are the only advantages it has.
New speakers like the roar has Aptx codecs which makes the sound much clearer over bluetooth. With features like this on other speakers i cant recommend the soundlink mini anymore.
This looks so enticing :( I think if I buy this it'll be the impulse buy of the year because I have no idea when I'm going to use it, but probably will at some stage!
It's USD $129 in the US with the carry bag thrown in for free and free shipping (US domestic only I imagine)… http://us.creative.com/blackfriday/
Wish the AU one included the carry bag at least!
Wish the AU one included the carry bag at least!
it did, in original offer of A$199. Also, don't forget US price is shown without GST.
true, however they don't charge GST in the US and sales tax isn't applicable in every state…
Actually Singapore has a SG $350 offer ($315 AUD) where you get 2 speakers, 2 carry bag and the special cable… that's pretty damn cool!
.. they don't charge GST in the US ..
They do, it's just called it or something like it something else. In Australia, Federal government collects it and distributes to states, in US, each state collect it.
@AlexF: you missed my "and sales tax isn't applicable in every state…" ;) (in relation to online sales in this case specifically)
Wow, ordered on 27/11, arrived this morning by Fedex from Singapore. Very happy!
You using a travel adapter or bending the US pins on the plug? Was curious about that…
It came with an Australian adapter in the box.
Oh, but you bought it from the au.creative.com store, right? Not the sg.creative.com one? [I've heard the products are shipped from Singapore anyway, but to get the aussie adapter it has to be ordered from the au.creative.com store…]
The deal seems expired. The price on web is back to $249 :(
Look like they extend the deal longer..!!!!
Just bought another one for my friend and it sound very nice feel better then bose for mid and high, bass is good too.
This is still 150 with free delivery!
I bought this at full price a few weeks ago. :(
These are really great speakers. Much, much better than the popular UE Booms. Balanced sound with decent bass not bloated like the soundlink mini although some people might prefer the sound signature of the bose.
The feature list is incredible.
At this price i'm considering buying another to pair them in stereo. Which btw the roar handles much better than the Boom's pair mode.
IMO the best bluetooth speaker you can get.
