Has anyone tried to get today's App of the Day - HDR camera?
It sounds very promising but when I try to click on the "Free" link, it says it is actually $0.99. Admittedly this is still a discount from the original RRP, but I don't get why it's not free?

Looks like theres a free and a paid version, my guess is app of the day is supposed to link to the free version, where you enter the promo code to unlock paid features.
Sorry, the Play store is blocked at work, but from my mobile if you click on the App of the Day app, it takes you to HDR Camera+ on the play store.
In the text it says:
'"HDR Camera" is the 100% free app of the day. And today I've negotiated the PRO version for free, rather than $2.99. To get it go to "settings", "promo" and enter the code "appoftheday"'
Go to Google Play Store and search for HDR camera. There is a FREE Version. Install, then enter promo code.
