Bought this $40 phone with Woolies last month and $15 later with a Bagman-unlock, it was possibly my best ever value phone purchase since my days of the Nokia 5110 (yes I've been using mobile phones since those days!). The phone has been so good, I actually bought another online last week (Christmas gift for a friend), sadly for about $110 delivered, because I didn't think Woolies would do another of these half price (plus they'd run out of stock even at $80).
Windows 8.1 does have a limited app range, but the main ones are there - WhatsAp, FB and Insta. I use this phone for work ie. mainly phone, texts and of course web surfing. I have an iphone 4s for all my other app related stuff. WhatsAp is especially fantastic, because prior to this the iphone advantage was the group SMS flexibility via imessage, but increasingly people are having trouble verifying their imessage to work properly on their iphone (I know of two people), so WhatsAp has completely done away with platform incompatibility.
The 530's resolution is defo not crash hot (I believe it's only like 240 ppi compared to even the old iphone 4s's 328 ppi or something), but really it hasn't been that bad - my Gmail comes over fine, and web pages are OK if you don't have to spend too long on it (I have a 7" tablet for that). The point is you get a smartphone that is quite fast operationally (Windows Phone I believe is a very effective low resource intensive OS), at a price that you'd pay for accessories for your S6's and I6's ….
So yeah horses for courses … but in the case of this Nokia 530, it's a backyard pony priced bolter for a mid-field finish at the Melbourne Cup! Bargain if you ask me! I'm getting a few more for gifts …
