EB Games - Joysticks in Christmas Sale from $36

50

Decided to buy a joystick for the re-release of X-Wing on GOG. Unforunately not a lot of options in physical stores. Found EB Games have two of the best budget joysticks around in their Christmas sale.

Have been looking for the Thrustmaster T.16000M as it features Hall Effect (magnetic) sensors which are very accurate and won't get dirty and wear out like pots:

It's on sale for $68 which shouldn't really a deal but with the Australia tax and postage everywhere else it's the best I can find.

The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is much better priced @ $36. Also a very good joystick for this price range.

The Extreme 3D pro is a good joystick. I recently bought my second, the first lasting me almost 10 years before starting to pull to the left a bit (I took it apart and mostly corrected it, but it is creeping back).

  • It's possible to get 5% off if you can get Everyday Wish Cards at 5% discount (through Entertainment Book etc), you could then buy EB Games gift cards at Woolworths.

I don't think the effort would be worth $1.80

Don't underestimate the lengths some ozbargainers will go to..

They are practically giving it away now. https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-164656-Razer-Atrox-Xbox-360-A…

  • Pretty sure I got my thrustmaster T16000M for $60 incl. shipping

    • I looked through the list, but after shipping everywhere is more expensive and/or out of stock

  • Which x wing is now rereleased on gog?

    • I loved x-wing and tie fighter. xwing vs tie fighter not so much but maybe that was cos my computer at the time was a POS

    • A bit of controversy on exactly which version. Description says 1994, but people are saying 1993

That said I'd probably finish Alliance first (not on GOG) as I never finished it because I got frustrated by an imprecise joystick

      • I played through the original X-Wing and it's expansions with keyboard and mouse. Needed Ozb then for all the mouse pads I went through lol

        • Set this all up again last night. X-Wing Alliance with upgraded textures. Looks pretty good. (There are a few tutorials around the web http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/04/16/xwing-alliance-up…)

Also imported all of the original Xwing (and Rebel Xvt) Missions. (http://www.maxgames.it/xwc/)

Now I just need to pick up the new joystick tonight, Saitek ST90 is beyond awful :( (Might try to repurpose is as a throttle, and use G27 pedals for rudder)

        • @Abaddon:

Bought the Thrustmaster. Kill count went up 3-4 times. So much smoother and more precise. Highly recommended

  • If only I could buy cheap, quality 8 direction (non analogue) joysticks

  • Is it just me or do you have to pay $8 for shipping? Kinda kills the deal. This is for the thrustmaster.

    • Advantage here is that I'll pick it up instore for free. Their stores are everywhere.

Can't find any other physical store within a 2+ hour driving range which stocks the TM

  • Bought one of these today.. nice little stick for the money.. seems heavy (which is a good thing) and has a nice feel to it.. doesn't feel cheap..
