Don Bradman Cricket 14 - Collectors Edition [PC Edition] - $36 from EB Games

170

Don Bradman cricket 14 - Collectors edition for PC is on sale at EB games. Still a bit pricey for PC games but it's the cheapest I have seen for a collectors edition.

Collectors edition comes with 2 DVD's (1 being on Bradman and the other being on the Invincibles)

On steam this game alone is $50 USD

The game itself is probably the best cricket game that's been made and has a reasonable steep learning curve. You will need a controller to play this game as it's not keyboard friendly. Call your local EB games to check if they have stock otherwise you can order it online (shipping to Melbourne CBD was $5)

If you love cricket you'll love this game.

    Game has improved remarkably since launch thanks to patches, very enjoyable as a sim but couldn't recommend for multiplayer fun

  • Waiting for xmas sales

      This is as good as it will get

  • Does the boxed edition come with a Steam key? I haven't had a PC with a disc drive in it for years.

    • If you can get someone with a Russian steam account to buy it for you it's about AUD$20

      I installed it via disc, but Steam asked me for a key (which can be found inside the game box).

  • Nice find OP, less than 5 months ago this was $100+… LOL

  • was interested in this
    I heard bowling is great
    but batting is a lot hard than in the past
    kinda like in real cricket as you don't get an idea of where they are bowling (no landing circle)

    is that still the case?

  • is it true you can't simulate games?

    • In the "be a pro" mode you can sim segments that your player isn't involved in ie. Teammate's batting and bowling.

  • I know that the ball doesn't show a spot on the ball, you have to rely on colours when the ball is bowled (Yellow is full pitched, green is a good length, red is short of a length) and you have to pay attention to the line of the ball. All within less than a second!

    I don't know the state of the latest patch as I have been using a version which is not quite… bought for a lack of a better word.

    I have one on hold at Box Hill and I hope it comes with a steam key, would definitely make life easier

    I played this game on my tablet, and it seems pretty good, but I end up using my spare game time playing nba 2k15. Nba 2k15 is the best sports game out there imo.

      Didn't know it was school holidays yet

        Oh well seems like I upset you, don't worry you'll forget it soon enough.

        This game suffers the same problem all small budget local sporting titles suffer. The game quality is mediocre compared to what already out in the market, yet the game makers still ask an exorbitant price for a such a poor quality low budget game. These company's beg for support and promise the world, yet they never deliver… We end up paying the high prices (based on quality we should only pay about $5 for this title) because there's no better cricket game available, but that doesn't make it a bargain.. I'd rather pay a similar price for a new release high budget title that offers depth and quality over this any day. And at the end of the day, these games just end up on the shelf collecting dust because they are crap.

          It's priced at a perfectly sensible $50 everywhere that isn't EB, ie Steam and associated digital storefronts. It is made by BigAnt software, who couldn't be further from EA or 2KSports if they tried. And it's not like EA and 2K are bastions of terrific sport game development either: FIFA15 isn't great - indeed it's a step back from FIFA14, NBA has been a laughing stock for years and their NFL game is only the genre leader due to buying out the 2K equivalent many years ago.

          I don't recall BigAnt running around 'promising the world' at any stage during the build up to the release of Don Bradman cricket, in fact, I remember them getting out with a pre-release beta to show off their incredible batting engine, which was widely well received as the best ever.

          And 'you should only pay $5 for this title' and 'compared to what is already out on the market' oh yes, the many and varied cricket titles that have flooded the market since the SNES. Aside from Stick Cricket on mobile devices, what on earth are you on about? Clearly you are unfamiliar with the title, as it's a good deal better than that.

          @LaTerrible:

          I've only been following this game since BigAnt originally announced they were making it back in 2010, and have had the game since it was released… So yeah I am completely unfamilar with the title. Bigant, Sidhe and trublue, are all excellent at fooling the fanbois like you into thinking this is comparable to something like NBA 2k. It sounds to me like your the one that is unfamilar with quality sport titles. Its really sad because Cricket is my favorite sport too, I wish a developer could come out and make a quality game that is fun to play and at a similar level. And as for comparison to stick cricket, that game is more fun to play than this.

          @Ronnnie:

          'fanboi', not answering any of my points and other such reddit-quality nomenclature posit you as not worth the effort.

          @LaTerrible:

          yeah I love how you edited your childish response too!

          Only a bias person would say this game is price sensibly at $50. When I can buy other sporting titles that are considerably better in every respect for much cheaper. I can't see how anyone can really see this as a bargain.

    • You sir, are a fool. Don Bradman Cricket 14 is NOT a game app for the tablets.

  • +1

    I just got it, have no DVD drive, so hoping it's Steam downloadable.

    It says on the DVD box you must activate it by registering for a Steam Account, and system requirements don't mention DVD. Probably signs it's OK to download.

  • +2

    Can confirm, the steam download is in progress, no drive needed.

  • Thanks very much OP for the post .. never play computer games normally but it is cricket !! Have been looking for a decent price for a while.
