Unlimited NBN 25mpbs + Uni-V Home Phone Included $70 Monthly @ Boom Broadband

40

For those who download heaps i mean by heaps is above 100G a month and require the home phone for some reason, Not only the price is reasonable but the speed is at 25/5Mbps which are always at the peak speeds (modem/router capabilities will determined your speeds at most).

Their customer service is #1 guarantee you will get someone who understands you 110%, they are Melbourne base and provide excellent service.

Contract options are given when you sign up, 0-12-24 months.

I am not associated with them but i have been with them for 3months now, never turning back.

Why suffer with TPG or Telstra with their overseas customer service which will get you nowhere, i'm pretty sure everyone has had these experiences. Save your precious time and money, go Local.

  • If you think its not a deal or it is a Spam just delete, im not too fuss.

Personally i think this is a good deal due to its awesome customer service = free of headache! =)

  • I am personally very happy with my TPG FTTB service, $59.95 and 100megs up and 50 megs down.

    • +1

I think you got your 100 and 50 the wrong way around there

      • hehehe yes I did :) other way around.

    • Is your residence newly built? Greenfields or brownfields?

      • Nope our apartment has been around for 7 years and the neighboring apartment in Spring Hill Brisbane has been around for 9 years. Both hooked up to TPG's fttb fibre.

It's been awesome, yes dealing with TPG is painful and their hidden fees etc etc waiving your rights. But I have totally no dramas with their service. I couldn't find anyone offering the same service at this price, even when I was on adsl2.

    • i use to be with them and yet again i was about to go with them again, their customer service is even more shocking, and for me personally would not want to pay a $250 set up fee on-top of other fees that TPG has set, while Boom is literally NO hidden cost, its so good they have contacted me after a month to see how i was going, even visiting their website they ask if things are all good, tell me TPG would never do this in a million years lol

but if you have hassle free thats the way to go

people talking about fibre and im sitting here getting aroused when im able to squeeze 11mbps out of my connection :(

    • lol ADSL?

    • +7

11Mpbs would be amazing. 2Mbps-2.2Mbps connection, with random periods of high level packet loss.

But no, thanks Mr Turnbull, copper's good for years to come.

      Think yourself lucky at 11.

I usually sync at 3mbps but for the past few months we have been stuck at around 0.5mbps due to poor quality cables from the pit to our house :(

      • I was happy with TPG until I moved to >2km from the exchange, was getting 2-3mbps too.

Switched to Optus Cable, their customer services sucks worse than TPG but at least I'm getting 30mbps now!

    • I sync at 11mbps too. It's enough to stream video at 720p on Youtube but as of late online video buffers a crapton, forcing me to play videos at 480p instead.

"The NBN rollout has not started in your area."

Nothing out of the ordinary there, then.

    • Already installed in part of Frankston and building has commenced in our area… not in Frankston!
Looking forward to it as we had cable in our previous house averaging 10-12mbs over wireless, but the new house has ADSL only getting 3-4 over ethernet! Unhappy with it is an understatement!

For those who download heaps i mean by heaps is above 100G a month

I can't even remember the last time I considered 100GB 'heaps'.

  • Not only the price is reasonable but the speed is at 25/5Mbps which are always at the peak speeds (modem capabilities will determined your speeds at most).

You don't need a modem (MOdulator-DEModulator) with the NBN. You need a router - very different devices.

I doubt this is a truly unlimited service - they will no doubt kick you out if you tried to download a terabyte or two. Read the fine print before you sign up (as with all things).

Tell us more about "MOdulator-DEModulator" professor?

FYI they are actually very similar expect in the 1st layer

      • +2

        ???

The NBN supplied NTD is the equivalent of an ADSL modem, as it takes care of modulating the laser and demodulating the signal from the photodiode.

The NTD provides four Ethernet outlets and two telephone outlets so you can have six separate services. Edit: which is the reason why you only need a NAT router.

What else is there to know, student?

    • Correct *Router i shall fix that typo :P

      • Indeed it is Unlimited, no speeds cut down or shape after 100G+ ive been using above 200 last two months, fast as always :)
  • If anyone's wondering why it's too good.
It's lower tier NBN. nbn max speed is what they said "100 Mbps"

    • This speed would be considered top teir for the people who suffer from the fttn nbn

Not to mention out of reach for most Aussies…

      • getting speeds close to 25Mbps is lucky enough where ever you are in Aus, i use to live smack bang near the CBD in Melbourne with ADSL 2+ and there i was lucky to get 3Mbps download and 1Mbps uploads.

having the near full speed of 25Mbps is luxurious for me :D

        • Couldn't agree more, still stuck on adsl2+

        • Same here. Jumped onto Belong's ADSL2+ (Telstra) free installation offer and I'm getting a max of 6Mbps in the city. Iinet (Optus) 4G gave me 17Mbps, but their prices skyrocket if you want a high download quota.

    • Well it depends what you Need 100Mbps for? are you consistantly downloading stuff over the net with over 5+ people at home using the internet at the same time? Do you know how fast 25Mbps download speed is? i can download a Blu-ray movie the size of 4G + in under 10mins at times. im pretty sure that speed is fast enough for me.
keeping in mind i also have around 6+ devices connected to my Router. AND connected to A VPN which reduces the speed even more. What are you on atm Jomari29?

      • You don't need a large household or to be constantly downloading to benefit from the better speeds. For that movie example, you could be watching that film in 1/4 of the time which is a nice plus. Alternatively it makes uncompressed copies in the future a more viable option, as well as 4K content.

Video games for those that download them will certainly benefit from a faster speed if you want to play the game immediately. Download sizes for those can easily be over 20GB…I've had a few where a patch alone was over 10GB.

Not that 25Mbs is bad, especially coming from anything under 10Mbs, but you really don't need to be a heavy user to benefit from quicker speeds. If anything those users require larger data allowances, where everyone stands to benefit from a more responsive service to some degree. Whether it's worth the price premium would be a deciding factor but.

I'm moving to South Korea as my TPG keeps getting disconnected…Telstra cable was even worse. No NBN in my area for the next.. I don't know a decade?

    • Move to NZ… i think their FTTP network is already up and running… should be cheaper to move there then South Korea =P

Hahaha, I'm lucky to be getting 100Mbps with 200GB on the grandfathered Bigpond Ultimate Cable plan for only $80.

I couldn't be happier, the rates they offer nowadays are just too much

Bear in mind that this was about 2.5 years ago, I believe NBN is the biggest rip off

    • I believe NBN is the biggest rip off

      In your misinformed opinion.

How's your 1 or 2 Mbps upload going, compared to 40 Mbps upload on the NBN (with potential to go up to 400 Mbps)

It's only a rip off if you don't shop around and ignorantly assume Telstra is the "best".

      • Never use upload, so I wouldn't know hahahah

I would happily trade slow upload speeds that for a cheap 200GB of 100Mbps download speed.

        • NEVER? are you sure?

Someone doesn't know how the Internet works

        • +1

It must be some kind of magic then that got your bytes of information (commonly called text) to appear on this site in the form of a posted comment!

        • +1

          @matt6589:

Yeah but you dont need MUCH upload speed to make it work. I'm sure his grandfathered plan suits him (and would suit most non-torrenters) just fine. I don't understand the hate.

        • @justtoreply:

Hahaha, obviously I'm using some of my upload speeds with things such as requesting websites, commenting on facebook and ozbargain, when playing online games, etc, but these only require small amounts of uploading. However, when I'm downloading at speeds of 5 to 10 MegaBytes per second (never reached 12.5MBps), I can start a HD movie download and by the time I get popcorn (3 mins), it will be done.

On the other hand, I can understand the people who need high upload speeds for uploading Youtube videos, backing up large files to the cloud or even skyping.

Justtoreply is right, these speeds suit my needs

Also I have no idea how the internet works, would one of you (@Snoop , @matt6589 , @didsburydan ), like to explain?

        • @Gorian4:
All I can tell you is that you click on a thing on your screen, stuff appears on your screen, you type stuff into that, then other stuff appears on your screen… and sometimes it actually is the stuff you want!

        • @Snoop:

          Magic it is then

  • Why do they have setup fees and still charging for a router?

    • if you want no strings attached or a minimal 12 months it will cost you $50, but considering most providers charge you an arm and a leg for no contract Boom are quiet reasonable. You have to ask your self, when are you planning to stay at a property less than 12month at a time? if so then i guess use a mobile broadband stick that you can take anywhere.
