    FREE SHIPPING over $30

How much do you normally charge for free shipping ?

    How about posting some bargains…

    • +3

For me in the past, shipping to Sydney metro for orders under $99 is typically $8.95.

      Good deal. Thanks rep.

What a ridiculous comment to make, free shipping normally applied from over $99 so they are now offering it from $30.

So how much do you save?

        • +1

So how much do you save?

If you spend between $30 and $99 you save a minimum of $8.95.

Not that hard to do the maths now was it!

        • +1

Good lord, how many people are going to have to explain this?

Pedantry and mathematics are apparently mutually exclusive…

          @Maverick-au

you save a minimum of $8.95.

That would depend whether or not you could buy the items cheaper elsewhere…

          @jv:

True. As is the possibility that even after buying one of the countless items available at market-best pricing, if you were to get run over whilst picking them up from the store or your mailbox, it would turn out to be a pretty ordinary deal for the individual involved.

          Neg away…

        • @PiperTard:

countless items available at market-best pricing

LOL, You either work for them or are delusional…

          Chemist Warehouse $39.99
          http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=55511&pnam…

          Elsewhere $29.95
          http://www.chemistdirect.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/1131…

Even with "free" postage, it costs MORE

Free postage on it's own is not a bargain…

        • @jv:

How long did it take to find that exception to prove the rule? The catalogue on the chemist warehouse site has hundreds of deals.

You need not be either delusional or employed by CW to be willing to exercise a little common sense and time seeing if there are any sale items which meet your needs so you can take advantage of the significant savings on postage.

Good deal OP, all the moreso in conjunction with chemist warehouse's typical great pricing.

    • Yeah, I hope the ACCC hits them hard for that.

Most of the stuff I get there are similar prices to other chemists and the "discount" on the receipt is very misleading

You're kidding, right? I buy a lot of pharmaceuticals online, and Chemist Warehouse are invariably cheapest. As a parent with a constant need for infant supplies, supplements, formula etc, I am very appreciative of the value they bring to market, as well as an ability to qualify for free shipping without needing to spend the usual $99+.

Sorry to sound like a fanboi, but the last company I ever want to see the ACCC "hit hard" for petty infractions is the cost leader of any given industry! Frankly, I'd hope they'd have bigger fish to fry…

        • You're kidding, right?

Nope, the savings are fake and misleading.

      • +1

The "sale price" from 90%+ of Australian retailers is misleading IMHO…… especially around "stocktake sale" time. What's the ACCCC going to do about that I wonder?

        • Yep. Well said.

What's wrong with retailers quoting RRP and relying on buyers to indulge a little common sense and the centuries old principles of "caveat emptor" when deciding what they choose to buy?

We're fighting a war trying to idiot-proof the world and we're losing. The world is destined to keep on building better idiots…

        • @PiperTard:

What's wrong with retailers quoting RRP

It's against the law to compare to RRP when you do not normally sell at RRP…

        • @jv:

Perhaps, but only because we live in such a regulated, litigious society where the law-makers feel an increasing burden to regulate for the benefit of the lowest common denominator. I'm more of a free market advocate and will continue to buy regardless.

That said, I've always made it a practice to exercise judgement when evaluating value rather than just swallowing whole, whatever any particular vendor wants to feed/sell/charge me…

Small price to pay for access to value and free will.

  • I still don't understand why we can't order online and pick up in the store for vitamins.
Or I can't use gift vouchers in store.
I have a gift voucher and I don't want vitamins in post in summer.

  • Chemist Warehouse faces accusations of misleading discount advertising

"The practices that are causing concern are representations on sales receipts or dockets whereby Chemist Warehouse are claiming there is a 'normal price' and a saving being enjoyed by the customer from shopping with Chemist Warehouse that day," he said. (Victoria branch of the Pharmacy Guild, Anthony Tassone)

"What this creates is an expectation that a 'normal price' could be what other pharmacies charge or [that the saving related to] a price that Chemist Warehouse were previously selling that item at, and it doesn't appear to be the case.

Consumer group Choice has also separately conducted an investigation into the issue and has alleged Chemist Warehouse, among other retailers, may be in breach of laws on misleading advertising.

Choice also looked at "lowest" or "best price" guarantees offered by department stores, hardware stores and electrical retailers including Chemist Warehouse.

"What we found is if you rely on these claims, you can often end up wrapped in tricky terms and conditions and indeed end up paying a much higher price than you bargained for," the consumer group said.

I'm not sure if there is merit in the statements or if it is the Pharmacy Guild attempting to protect their members from competition. This might suggest latter:

In a report published last year, Roy Morgan Research said in the five years prior to March 2013, the proportion of Australians aged 14 and over who shopped at Chemist Warehouse in an average four-week period had more than doubled from 10 per cent to 21 per cent.

  • Ever looked closely at the big signage inside and outside Chemist Warehouse stores? They have signage stating "AUSTRALIA'S CHEAPEST CHEMIST" in about 1000pt font and immediately before those words are two words in about 18pt font "is this". Go and check it out, surprised they have got away with that for so long…
