HeadPhones & Earphones

I'm looking for a pair of decent closed outer ear headphones. My budget is $50.

I'm also looking for a pair of in ear Earphones the kind with earbuds. My budget for these is about $30.

I have looked everywhere and the only decent looking stuff is out of my price range so any help you guys and gals could provide would be much appreciated.

  • My first suggestion is that you have a wander around your local Harvey Norman - they usually have plenty of these bargain-bin type square racks and in my experience there are several of them with headphones/earphones that have been marked down to half price or more. I think they can even have $30 brand name ones down to $4.

Otherwise you might wanna look at these:

    Panasonic headphones $19 @ Betta Electrical: http://catalogues.betta.com.au/portal/offerdetails/panasonic…
    In-ear/earbuds with noise isolating: http://www.mwave.com.au/newAU/mwaveAU/productdetail.asp?Cart…

    • Thanks for replying.

Might have to give Harvey Norman a try. Those Panasonic's look like some 3rd rate Chinese headphones you might find on eBay. The ones on mwave don't look too bad, might grab those.

      • Well I always had the idea that anything Panasonic is reliable, and that certainly has been my experience to date at least. I suppose this $19 pair would be a no frills model though.

        • I share the same belief but not sure about the quality of their headphones though.

  • tbh i'd go into harvey norman etc, try on a few pairs, then write down the model numbers and look online. I have bought headphones from mwave and other random sites. However, you're best bet is to stalk this site for a week or two. Its very likely that one of the sites will offer a good headphones deal.

New user and hddecibel.com is registered to a Ryan Lee … Something you're not telling us?

  • Try this website www.headphones.com.au
The guy that runs the website is pretty helpful. Just ask the same question on the forum and you'll get some good answers.

Had a quick look through his recommended list.
    for closed headphones Sennheiser:HD201 $49
    for in-ear (canalphone) HeadDirect: RE2 $59

    the prices include delivery.

I think ppl say the sennheiser Cx-300 in ears are okay too…should be below $50 (not listed on that website..ebay has them but beware of cheap fakes)

ps. not affliated with the website, just like and recommends the shop.

    • Thanks for your suggestion.

But I've seen that site already. Not overly impressed. And no offense but both sets of headphones you recommended look cheap and tacky to me and not worth the listed price.

      • No worries….TBH i haven't tried those two…so can't tell you about the build quality…and the photos usually don't tell much (my headphones are way different to the photos.)

I don't actually recommend them…just those fall into your budget and the recommendation from the site owner. I have Audio Technica's AD700 and Beyerdynamic DT250 myself..I would recommend those if you have more budget and considers something more pricy in the future… and those were again recommended from the site owner and hence my referral.

You'll see there are other more pricy headphones on the site he doesn't recommend.. because his recommendation is based on sound quality/comfort rather than looks….but then again, it still comes down to personal preference..what sounds/looks good to one person, might not suit another…

I guess its better if you go into some place like Harvey Norman and see/listen them first hand. People have different tastes in music, different shape heads and ears…so you should try and listen to as many and pick
what sounds best and feels comfortable for you.

        good luck

By the way, I only use the site as a reference, and haven't purchased from there yet….I go overseas at least once a year..so i got both of my headphones OS..at lower prices…

      • Trust me..Anything from headphones.com.au is going to at least double the quality of the bargain bin at harvey norman.
I would highly recommend the Head Direct ones. but those sennhesiers are not really top-notch.
Just make a post on the headphones.com.au forums and you will be amazed with the response.

        • Cool thanks for the replies guys. I might just do what you suggested jakey69 and post a thread on the headphones.com.au website.
