    There seems to be no evidence that this is not the normal digital list price. OP can you please clarify the normal price, and how long this 'limited time intorductory price' is for.

      Dear Moocher,

      It is just for 7 days, and then I will put the price to $2.99.

      The way Amazon KDP's program works is that you normally have to wait a month after publishing a title, to use the 'countdown' special. The countdown special would allow me to reduce the price to $0.99, for 7 days each three month period, but would still show the $2.99. However, I did not want to wait a month, so I have manually set the price to $0.99. (Please note that in doing it this way, Amazon gets to keep 70% of the $0.99. If I set the book at $2.99 Amazon only gets 30%. Hence, apart from this introductory period, I cannot afford to keep the book at $0.99.) Sounds awfully convoluted, but I hope that makes sense.
