How do I transfer files from my new Nokia Lumia 530?

The phone only came with a charger which I could easily plug into the phone and charge. However, I noticed the data cable plug(sorry if I don't know the right terms)seems different to what I'm used to seeing to transfer data through USB.

Is this different to the ones they use for digital camera transfers? So do I have to buy a new data cable especially for this model? Where can I get a good value one?

Thanks for your answers.

  • Any micro USB to USB cable will be fine to use. (Most digital cameras would use this I believe)

An older digital camera might use mini USB instead of micro USB. If you have the cable for your digital camera, just test whether it's the same type that can go into your phone. If different, then yea, need another cable type. Should be easy to find even in Kmart or Target. If not, Dick Smith or JB HiFi should have them.

      • I guess I've only got mini USB at home because I've never seen the micro USB before. When did these micro USB come out in the market? (Sorry I'm a bit behind in technology).

Thanks for the tips, I will check it out at the stores you mentioned.

        • Haha well it's been a while now, but I have a camera bought in 2007 that uses mini USB, so I guess it's a few years after that.

  • Isn't there some program you can use to upload via WiFi? I use Andftp and Andsmb free but as the names suggest they are for Android.

    • I was able to use Bluetooth for SMS transfer, but I'll just get the cable if that's what is required.
