Looking for a Laptop

Hi! Just asking for everybody's opinion on what laptop i should get. I've been looking for a new laptop for about a month and can't find anything that meets all the criteria…

I've classified all the requirements into "must have" and "should have", so as long as a laptop has got everything from the "must have" one, i don't really care about the other stuff.

Must have:

  • battery for at least 6 hours,
  • Intel i7 (or any other equivalent one)
  • at least 4gb of RAM
  • no less than 2Ghz duo core

Should have:

  • metal case(corpus)
  • light weight
  • screen size no bigger than 14 inches

If someone knows of anything that will suit me, i'd really appreciate that.

And yeah, I completely forgot to mention the price. I hope to get something below $800 but might cope with $1000 if i really like it/have no other choice
Thanks

  • Which type of Core i7? Note the vast majority of Core i7's laptops out there are ULV (low voltage) variants with dual core and HT, as opposed to having physically 4 cores like their desktop counterparts.

I'm thinking of something like a Dell Latitude E7440 , they have a sturdy metallic design and also fairly lightweight well not super lightweight, but it's tough.

    • Thanks for the suggestion, a bit out of my price range(which you didn't know about… my bad). Well, if the vast majority are ULV, then i guess it's fine by me.

      • Well what is your price range

        • $1000 is an absolute max

    • Try Dell Outlet….they r supposed to be refurbished laptops…but when i got mine couple of weeks back….it looked brand new even though the website said there some minor marks.

  • +1

Get a macbook air, by far the best option.

    • Where can I get one for $800 ?

      • $1000 yes.

  • i5s are pretty good these days.

Scrimshaw's suggestion is probably the closest you can get to your specifications for around $1000.

By taking a more balanced view of performance, considering i5, gpu and ssd you may get a better compromise.

The suggestions here (air or refurbished latitude) are already the best - just a question of balancing portability with expandability.
