Hi everybody,

so I've been wanting a small powerful EDC (Every Day Carry) light and Olight recently released an amazing rechargeable light! pretty awesome considering it's got it's own mount and all you do is sit it there as it connects and charges magnetically

I'm pushing them to do me a deal on the S15R which uses a single AA battery configuration but a true EDC's probably uses a CR123 instead of a AA or a AAA.

or the sister light without the charge BUT you get a magnetic stand which is pretty awesome

this light is probably more suitable for people who have their own lacrosse or nitecore chargers

Just for clarity if you buy this, and use CR123s, do not place it in the charger. They are not rechargeable but the supplied battery and 16340s are perfect for the charger. Price is very good, the light itself should be very good as Olight do nice stuff. I have no idea if the charger specs are quality though. I have a few different brands of this size light and its size is indeed excellent for EDC.

I have so many lights, but Im struggling to find a reason not to buy one.

Just bought Olight S20R for AUD 59.04 instead of original price AUD 82.68

Played with the coupon code a little. Tried DS20R for this one an it worked. Saw some YouTube reviews. It looks pretty damn good and bright to me.

    cheers, bought s10r.

can s15r use extender tube from s15?

    • Bloody caprimulgus.. always 1 step ahead!

  • Good price for all in one (Light, battery, charger). Would make a good 1st (serious) light kit. My hesitation in buying one is the massive gap between output levels: 1lm - 5lm - 120lm - 550lm.

Ninja Edit - Was commenting on the S20R

    2nd Edit - My concern with the output levels on the S10R are the same: 0.5lm - 5lm - 85lm - 400lm.

Don't worry about the lumens number in output level.
Human eye response is logarithmic. In simplified terms, we only perceive half the brightness for every double lumens figure detected by scientific instrument.
This means that increase from 100lm to 200lm will only perceived as half the brightness increase, and not double in brightness.

So above figure of 120lm to 550lm means that perceived brightness will only doubled (and not quadrupled) and above figure of 5lm to 85lm will be perceived as about 4x brighter (and not 17x brighter)

Hope I'm not convince you enough to spend your money :P

      • I bought a S20R as a gift for the old man. Hopefully it arrives before xmas and there isn't a hold up with the battery in the post. >$60 for a good quality light that includes a battery and charger (albeit probably a very slow one) it is a good deal. Now I just need someone to find a way for me to get a ZL SC62 landed here for under AU$80…

PS. I'm all over the perceived brightness thing; I just wish that the step between levels was more gradual.

  • Hmmm, initially seemed to be everything I wanted in an edc. However reading the last couple of pages of the candlepower forum it seems that there was a problem with the chargers. It appears that there is a new batch of lights with modified chargers being produced and released in the last few days.

I strongly suspect that the batch at banggood (which is indicated as in stock) will have the old chargers which may/may not have the issue reported. I also suspect getting a replacement from the banggood or the manufacturer would be difficult.

So I will maybe let this slide for now.

  • Anyone received theres yet?

    • just received mine today…on the charger now!

i think i have a defective charger, as per here:
      http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?388746-new-Olight-S10R-S15R-and-S20R&p=4547301&viewfull=1#post4547301

charger is flashing red…have contacted banggood for a replacement. :(

      • Recieved Mine too. Yup defective charger. I will do the same. Let me know how you go with a replacement, not sure if I can be bothered sending it back :(.
