MicrosoftStore selling returned as new

I recently purchased a titanfall xbox one controller from the online Microsoft Store thinking I'd be safe getting a nice new product

Receive it and it's got scratches all over it and some other little issues, obviously a returned unit (the guy said they sell returned units new still)

Finally got them to give me a prepaid label so I could send it back (were trying to make me pay for return postage)

Just curious, has anyone else had this issue with them, and are they even allowed to sell returned units as new? Sucks if you ask me when you are paying for a new product

Most places that accept 'change of mind' returns, will sell the returned product 'as new'. But they also have a strict policy that the returned product has to be in 'as new' condition.

It is a vary rare occurrence for a defective unit to be sold, rather than sent back to the manufacturer. Perhaps it was simply labeled wrong during the return. A human error. It happens. Sucks that it happened to you, especially via an online store, But unfortunately that's part of the deal when buying online.

Hope you have better luck in the future!

    • Ah I see thanks for replying. Hopefully they don't do the same to someone else with this controller again. Just went with the plain black one from ebay with the discount instead. Wish they had white ones

  • I ordered the Advanced Warfare controller from the MicrosoftStore because I thought it looked cool and it should be arriving today, hopefully I don't have the same problem as you do

    • That controller is only recently released I believe? So you should be safe :)

  • I just received my xbox one and it looks like it could be a return too. There were two securty stickers on each of the tabs that go help stop the box from opening (hmmm home that makes sense). One had on each side had been opened and another was put on top of it.

    Anyone else get the same?

    • A little update, I'm now not even sure if my controller was a returned unit. I bought another black one from a different store and it had the exact same several scratches on the glossy part of the controller. Maybe a fault in the manufacturing of the batch or something, weird.

If you contact them online they can check to see if that particular one was returned I think :)

      • Ya, I did a little reading, and apparently they open old inventory to add game codes so they can sell them as part of a package.

Everything's working so I'm fine with what I have.

  • Was the Factory Seal Still intact.

That's one thing to look for.

    • on the box or the actual xbox unit?

      • The packaging. There should be an clear round circle manly stuck on the right side.
