Lakers NBA and Kings NHL Tickets for Next Feb - Stubhub?

Thanks to the recent AirNZ deal, im off to California at the end of next Feb.
Based on our current schedule it looks like we will be in LA for the back to back NHL Kings (vs Senators) and NBA Lakers (vs Bucks) games on the 26th/27th Feb. Not the best opposing teams but its better than nothing.

Looks like there are no 'official' tickets available for the NHL and only a few 'average' ones for the NBA so was thinking reseller sites like stubhub will be my only option.

Anyone got any thoughts/tips on these kind of sites?
Is it worth buying the tickets now or waiting till closer to the date… Never been to a US sports game so dont want to wait till last minute and miss out..
Travelling with wife and daughter which means 3 seats, reducing the 'bargain' choices which usually get sold in lots of 2 unfortunately.

  • I used StubHub when we went last year and it worked out fine.
IF the game is likely to sell out then buy sooner - if not then buy later.
The way the Lakers are going chances are you'll be ok leaving it for a bit…

  • Bucks will be above Lakers. But I do want to see Kobe play just once.

  • NBA and NHL have "official" resale tickets now. NBA is through NBAtickets.com, or when you go to individual tickets on the teams website they usually have a resale option. This is the safest way to get resale tickets as the actual ticketmaster ticket is issued in your name instead of someone elses name like stubhub does. NHL has a similar site.
Stubhub is still good though, it's usually my second choice, i dont buy anything that's not on stubhub or NBAtickets.com. I've bought NHL tickets from both too, never had an issue.

For the Lakers game, try and sit down the bottom for the best experience, the premier or 200's section can be had for good value usually, although i do agree it's a pain to buy 3 tickets, but when you do find something it is usually good value. The premier section is VIP and has in seat wait service and padded seats, so will be more expensive, but the 200's are just regular seats. Buy tickets as soon as you find some at a price you are willing to pay, if you are worried about missing out. We always buy really early, for peace of mind really.

    • thanks
ive seen some lakers premier seats in the low 100's which appears to be under 'face value' if buying from ticketmaster

      might just jump on those

      • Yep. That's what I would do, especially if you've found a group of 3 for a decent price :)

  • I used stubhub to get Dodgers and Kings playoff tickets.

I agree with blaircam, if the game is going to sell out, buy as soon as possible.

It helps if you're able to be flexible because if the game isn't going to sell out, you can pick up some really great seats for below cost prices.

If you can't be flexible, just act on your gut instinct.
