  • You might want to try a different link. That appears to be the URL for the sign in page, with the error
    {"error":"invalid_request","error_description":"client_id is missing"}

    https://www.origin.com/en-au/store/free-games/game-time

    • Thanks it wasn't letting me since the previous titanfall offer used the same link

Thanks, I'm too slow to keep up with multiplayer FPS lol, so I usually just play the campaign, should give me enough time

    • +1

the campaign in BF4 is really bad.

the dumbest AI u'll ever see

      • Well I'm glad I didn't buy it then :P

      • You must be quite young or new to games if BF4 single player campaign is the dumbest AI you've ever seen. It's nothing like playing against real people, which is the bread and butter of Battlefield, but it's unlikely to be the worst AI you'll ever see.

        • -1

yep - you'll see worse AI in multiplayer through comments at the end of each round

        • @cornbeef:

          omg. fkn trolls

        • @millusions: where?

      • Lol, you don't buy COD for the single player… Don't think I bought tBF4 for the single player either. If you want a single player experiance, buy a game designed for single player. Assassins Creed or The Witcher where all great titles

        • :| I used to buy CoD for the singleplayer…. Until I realized the obvious, and stopped.

  • I click the link and it takes me to theme toilet

  • Plus, there's double XP this weekend - a little assistance for the newbies.

    • Indeed. Sadly also it means assistance for the hackers vetting up their new Battlefield accounts. They always seem to come back on these double XP events.

      • If you play public servers, there wouldn't be many if any hackers. Sometimes, they're just good ei?

  • +5

and there's the 25 gig download

  • +3

If you're planning on playing the campaign, don't. Seriously.

    • yup.

i dont even know why it's there. probably just so it's not a purely online game, which it is anyway lol

      • They had to because CoD does it. They have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to CoD. BF never used to have campaigns until 3, but now they feel they have to because CoD has it.

Their campaigns try to copy CoD, but they copy all the worst things about it. They should stop trying to beat CoD and just be their own game.

  • Playing the campaign at least lets you unlock dog tags and weapons.

  • Do the 7 free days start once I open the game for the first time?
Or is it like I get to play it for 168 hours whenever I want?

    • Countdown begins when you run it the first time.

BTW, I hate Origin. You have to launch this game from a browser.

      • It makes it easier for them to update it. bth, some of the in game menus have been pretty horrific.

Just make sure you turn off the video backgrounds in the settings on the web launcher. That 10% CPU would make much difference

        • Update what? The game? Browser page? Origin? Why can't they update the game if I run it from a shortcut on the desktop?

If you're referring to stats and achievements, I really don't care about those things.

  • When does this expire. I'm preparing a computer soon

    • +1

You can just claim it now — the game doesn't need to be installed.

      • Thanks. Claimed easy 30seconds.

I can see what is their EVIL intention is. 7 days for free then yada yada yada ………
    SCUMBucket

    • +1

there is no evil intention, it's a free trial for 7 days.

No one forces you to buy it, I got bored of the game within 7 days anyway so it should be more than enough time to experience what it has to offer.

I don't understand why people complain when companies do good things

    • Take it as a free rental.

  • Sweet, now I can complete the campaign I started last time there was free game time and then get rid of the game once I'm done.

There were a fair few game-breaking bugs (the bad kind) back then, hope they were fixed.

    • I had to set the difficulty on Easy (which required a restart). The checkpointing system is very crap. Unlike CoD which has frequent checkpoints, you can expect to replay large sections of gameplay. You might have to kill 60 dudes before you reach a checkpoint, and if you die after 59 of them, start back at 0.

      Really frustrating game.

The Single player component isn't really the strong point of this game. The campaign is roughly 5.5 hours long (if played by a skilled FPS player, the game can be completed quickly in 4 hours, just one sitting of gameplay) whereas most other FPS shooters like COD4 Modern Warfare are around 7 hours or more.

I know I blasted through all 7 chapters of the game in basically one sitting. Much of the time I was actually looking for guns and dogtags to pickup, the AI opponents were easy anyway and were much stupider than human controlled ones.

        • They are stupider than human controlled enemies obviously, but they have the advantage of outnumbering you and coming at you from all directions. Until you're being shot, you won't know what direction they are at. All it takes is one of them to kill you, one out of 60, and you are restarting the last 10 mins or so.

I found my squad a bit annoying also. Especially the back and forth between the chinese girl and the black dude. I kept screaming at him to get over it already and stop whining. The final mission of gameplay felt a bit anticlimactic for a final mission. I wasn't expecting a boss fight or anything, but it seemed to end so randomly. The final moments didn't serve as much of an obstacle to overcome.

And the story was dumb. Shooters seem to be out of creativity. If the enemy (of the US) is not Russia, it's China, or even more baffling, North Korea.

    • Turns out the T&Cs of "Game Time" only allow you to have it once per game, so nvm.

The bugs I ran into last time were related to heavy weapons (e.g. RPGs, Stingers). If you ran out of ammo for those you couldn't swap back to them even if you got more ammo. This happened at a point where I had to shoot down a helicopter so I just ended up firing my assault rifle at it wildly and luckily managed to hit the pilot.

The other one was where I had to take a running jump onto a ladder, but for some reason my character wouldn't grab on and just fell to his death, turns out the workaround for that is to restart an extremely long mission. I stopped playing at that point.

  • guys which is the cheapest place to buy bf4? Last time someone said Mexican Origins website was the cheapest but it seems like it is more expensive, its quoted in USD

    • Don't know, but give ebay a try since the 20% off toys and games is active right now.

    • I got my BF4 Premium addon for roughly $30 USD on September. I think the base game was probably around $20 USD back then (not sure).

      Membresía Premium de Battlefield 4™

      US$27.99
      Descarga para PC
      CANT: 1
Garantía de Grandes Juegos de Origin: No aplicable

    • $20 for the game by itself or $25 for digital deluxe on the Origin website

      https://www.origin.com/en-au/store/buy/battlefield-4/pc-down…

  • I'm playing it now on the 7 day free trial. The campaign is awful and not worth doing. Multiplayer is fun, but so similar to BF3 I think the 5 days left on the account will be enough!!

So yea, take up this offer! Free is best! And the week should be enough to experience the game lol.

    • I hope they do these trials with all their games eventually.

  • EA has completely wrecked the Battlefield series since BF3 being hellbent on trying to get the COD audience. The series died with BF2.

One of my biggest gripes is the way the jets almost fly themselves so they can cater for the average console dimwit. That and all bugs/glitches/server issues.

In BF2, the commander and teamwork in your squad actually made a difference. Now squad mates are simply a means of spawning in the thick of the action so you can expend as much ammunition as possible like a maniac in the 30 seconds that you're alive.

Glad I didn't pay money for it.
