Best Place to Buy USB Hub?

Hi all, looking for a USB Hub, don't need too many USB ports in it, 2 or 3 is enough. Preferably 3.0. Any good quality ones at cheap prices? $20 or less…thanks!

  • Look on MSY or Umart. Search and ye shall find.

Can I suggest you get one with a wall plug adapter to supply enough power to the ports? I've found, especially with the external hard drives, that if you get an unpowered one, funky things tend to happen like ports freezing, USB device not recognized warnings.

Yes, they are going to cost more than $10-$15 if you get a powered one, but it will save headaches in the future. the mBeat ones we do (4 x USB 3 + 3 x USB 3 with individual on/off switches) are about $39 or less from some other stores.

Up to you but I've had hard drives returned by customers and after diagnosing, it's very often simply they're plugging too many devices requiring too much power into an un-powered hub.

    • Very good point. Basically we really need to know what magical journey is going to use the USB hub for. Yes, if for connecting portable hard disks, a powered port is a good idea. For little USB/thumb/jump drives and other low powered devices a standard hub no problem. USB 2.0 hubs from $1.51 delivered on ebay.

  • Lots on eBay. Otherwise if you cant wait, go to Dick Smith or any other major PC retailer but expext to pay 3x to 10x the price.

  • 4 port USB 2.0 hubs from $1.51 to $1.75 (free postage) on ebay. Perfect for connecting USB 1.1 or 2.0 peripherals such as USB mice, USB printer, USB scanner.
This one looks the best value as its definitely USB 2.0

Keep away from the older USB 1.1 hubs - too slow.

4 port USB 3.0 hub on ebay for just $6.01 (free delivery):

    • Say i have USB 2.0 devices like you mentioned.
If I am mobile, can I still use these powered hubs with out power?

      Ie optional power.
