    Cheaper than the JB one!

  • If I bring this offer to JB, will they be able to match / beat it?

  • Funnily enough I was looking at small size LCD TVs earlier and had skipped this model at it's 1k price.

Good call applebyte. As mentioned in the other thread, if you're not in NSW, "no Bing Lee for you!"

    • what a bargain…

    • Nice logic! Can see your point though…..

Deep breaths. Nobody needs to neg or be negged.

      • I just negged you sucker! hehe (just kidding).

  • Korean product have dubious customer care, so my retailer says. But TVs are usually OK.

Oh, Korean Won is crashing down. Expect more deals like this.

Not interested in dealing with Samsung anymore with their dodgy repairs and second hand replacements. You'd be better off sticking to supermarket brands for warranty.

      • +1

Samsung, or any other big name mfg in Australia rarely service your TV directly, it's all carried out by authorised service agents. The local ones around here are great, never heard of anything like a second hand replacement or dodgy repair until now. Out of personal experience their LCD TV service is excellent, again, from the local agents.

        • I am fully aware of this - must be my dodgy dealer who has palmed me off a scratched second hand model. In saying that, my dealings with Samsung staff over the phones have been poor too, particularly the so called supervisors. Samsung - NEVER AGAIN!!!

      Hi Tightwad,

I told you before when you raised this point -

"Your local electronics retailer is lying to your face.

As already mentioned, LG + Samsung together dominate the LCD market. They are quality units, and their service is top notch too. LG have 7/7/7 service - 7am to 7pm 7 days a week. No other manufacturer does the same. Their 3 year pixel perfect warranty is also untouchable.

Samsung have fantastic LCD warranty support. We had a dodgy 19” LCD Samsung that was 2 years old, had no receipt or anything. Called them up, they said the would drop a brand new replacement off straight away via courier, and they would send another courier a few days later to pick up the old one. He said having no receipt was no problem. How’s that for service?

I know you’re just sharing someone else’s opinion but believe me they are wrong. I’ve been working at a large electronics store for the past 3 yrs and I prefer the quality and service of LG and Samsung goods far more so than the likes of Acer (or Panasonic/Sony for that matter)."

I know you don't have to believe me, but all you're doing is perpetuating a myth, sorry!

If it wasn't clear enough, I work at an electronics store, have no interest in Samsung/LG/Sony/Panasonic and I am just aiming to dispel the myths that surround some dodgy products. It's less common these days, but people get their heads filled with myths and come to me saying "I always thought brand xxx was good, this salesperson says they're dodgy!".

Truth is all big name brands as the ones I have mentioned have a very similar failure rate. You might hear about Samsung/LG failing more often, but because they sell far more than their competitors failures are more likely to occur.

No company is perfect, it's just how they treat you when you have a dodgy product that counts. So far, so good for me on these two brands in particular.

      where???

  • What series is this model?…. Search on Google said it's Series 5, but the shape (from the picture) looks like one of those new releases…

    • I went to JB Hifi chatswood and its series 5, has a huge sticker top left of the TV with "SERIES FIVE" splattered across it! However the one at Bing Lee seems to be not the same model at all.

it just seems a bit too small for me, I'm gonna go 40-42" I guess if i buy a tv

  • This is the same as posted earlier by Applebyte, from JB Hifi, but Bing-Lee have done it $11 better.

The model that JB-Hifi is selling is the: LA32B550K1F

    Now the problem…

It seems that there is no mention of a inbuilt tuner, standard or HD.

I can't find any mention of either on the Samsung website or the online (JB Hifi & Bing-Lee) catalogues?

    • I don't think Aam's post was accurate, I called up Elizabeth JB and confirmed it was the Series 5 LA32B5500 for $899.

    • Guarantee there is a DVB-T tuner inbuilt, I work @ Bing Lee and yes, it definitely has one. We don't sell a TV that doesn't (not that I can think of at least).

you guys consider postage fee as well , but at JB with no postage , and warranty is better .
Buy on line , how much you are going to pay for postage , if anything goes wrong , how can u contact seller if u buy online ? ;-(

    • HUH ?? Boss, this is from Bing Lee …

    • Bing Lee are a huge brick and mortar store in NSW/ACT that do not offer on-line shopping.

Perhaps you're not familiar with them, but they are the equivalent of a Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, etc.

      • Oho > i am sorry , I am in Melbourne , I have no idea what is Bing Lee
        Good to know , thank

        • You clearly haven't heard the jingle! ;)

  • Still think my $899 sony 37" from Kmart is the best bargain. hehe.
But this one is Full HD, so still not bad.

    • Come to think about it that is a great price.. before the market crashed if I recall. Hopefully some more deals like that to come soon.

      • Yep, if it wasn't for that nonsense these are the prices we'd be paying for 42" now! Gawd damn you Team America! ;)

  • This is cheap!! Sounds like you can also negotiate on top of this price.

  • Customer service is better at Bing Lee than JB.

  • i believe this tv is 50hz, not good for hdmi gaming/sports or atleast not as good as 100hz

    • wtf it and almost any tv built in last 10 years will also do 60hz plus our TV is only broadcast 50hz so 100hz is just artificial crap added by the TV and looks like crap

    • sucked in by marketing haven't ya.

      100hz is worse for gaming.

100hz is supposed to be better for sports but if you read any review website, they will prefer you to switch 100hz off when doing any testing.

  • Samsung make nearly the best quality LCD screens on the market. And btw Sony uses LCD screens made by Samsung in their TVs. Another point - Samsung give 3 year warranty on their TVs.

    • Shouldn't that be: "Samsung make nearly all the LCD screens on the market."? :p

Well, between them and LG/Philips I think that pretty much sews it up! ;)

    • I'm pretty sure Samsung have already change all their TV warranty back to 1 year starting with the B & LED series. I guess this also helps with lowering the price.

      1. Sony has a joint venture with Sharp for LCD panels.
      2. Latest Samsung TV's only have 1 year warranty.

    Just checked:
    Advertised TV is Series 5, Full HD: 1920 x 1080, 4 HDMI, Anynet+
Really good TV but I would rather go for their Series 6 or above, which are more advanced (they have 100Hz Motion Plus, USB 2.0 movie, DLNA certified, Internet@TV, wireless LAN).
But if you don't need any extra advanced features and/or intend to use it for a bedroom - Series 5 will a be great choice.

    • I don't have one yet but I think after you upgrade to the lastest firmware you can activate the USB2.0 movie. Can anyone confirm this?

  • lucky I sold my Samsung 32" for about $800 couple mths ago….if I am not leaving Australia now, I will get this TV for sure

  • Good deal, managed to get Myer to price match but they had to go and speak to the manager to make sure they could actually do the deal!

Is an awesome tv, quality is great. As for the series 6, that's a great deal more in cost for DLNA that is built into the PS3 and many other cheap media players.

Plus you can change some options to allow you to play divx/mkv through the USB port on the back which can (for some people) remove the need for DLNA.

    Cheers

Just bought this TV at JB Hifi. I told them Bing-Lee was doin' it for $888 and they asked me a few questions about it. Was it the same model, online or in the flyer, etc.

They came back and said they'd do it for $870 cash. Sold!

    • Good deal :)

    • would you mind sharing your receipt with us so I can bring it to the JB HIFI? thanks in advance

edit: bought sharp lc32d77x instead. Will see when it is arrive.

  • Called Harvey Norman Lake Haven and they are price matching this, as they should I guess..

  • I went with the Series 6 - LA32B650, ring around a bit and play everyone against each other, i got mine for $1355 at Harvey Norman in the end.
