Checked this out after people from AFF received mailouts. I checked out my Membership Rewards page and found this added. I believe it to be generic and for everyone, so not targeted:
"Transfer your Membership Rewards points between 1 November 2014 and 30 November 2014, and you will receive 15% bonus Velocity Points."
15% Bonus Points When Transferring AMEX Membership Rewards to Virgin Velocity

Are airline points the best value way to convert Amex Points?
And does virgin points expire?IMHO wishcards are, since you can use them at various places.but if you're flying virgin a bit, this is goof
I'll buy virgin (or qantas) points at one cent per point, paying via PayPal. Any amount of points. Prefer over 100,000 in a go. I'll also buy the free RT flights off of people who get them free from their amex platinum cards. The last one I bought on eBay
less than a month ago,I paid $220 for. I'll pay $300 for these. This sounds really interesting. Do you buy the points on eBay? What about limitations on transferring points, I thought you could only do it within a family?
After a bit of research reading this thread explains it well
How do virgin points work out to be more than 1c per pt for you? Care to share??
Would love to know!a one way flight to sydney or gold coast from melbourne is around 8000-10000 points, these flights can be valued at anywhere between $150 to $250
also on top of that you can use these points to "upgrade" classes in which case it can double the value easily
Im happy to buy velocity points at a better rate if anyone is interested PM me.
FYI Points wise Virgin charges more for say- Coles giftcards than Amex (more than 15% higher)
Looking to fly on points to Europe but only in 2016. Got about 70k Amex points. Not gonna use the Amex points on anything else really. Unfortunately, I can't transfer them to QFF points . Any advice on whether this deal makes sense in my situation would be much appreciated!
Probably Singapore Airlines' Krisflyer. Amex Membership Rewards is 1:1 to Krisflyer. Sydney to London return is 95,000 less 15% if you book it online, so 80,750 + taxes.
Have a look here for their redemption chart: https://www.singaporeair.com/pdf/ppsclub_krisflyer/charts/SQ…
If you want to book now, Amex will sell you 10,000 points for some obscene rate and you can then convert them over. $USD25 per 1,000 points if I remember correctly.
thanks for taking the time reply! Will look into KrisFlyer. Cheers!
Did it disappear? Can't see the deal anymore on Membership rewards site.
Currently showing : 1 Membership Rewards point(s) is equal to AUD 1 Velocity Point
clearly showing in rewards section of Amex
Transfer your Membership Rewards points between 1 November 2014 and 30 November 2014, and you will receive 15% bonus Velocity Points*.
Yes OP its generic and not a bad deal especially if eventually SingaporeAir and Virgin points become interchangeable on a 1 for 1 basis.
Tends to happen in November each year and Virgin in past have also given !0 to 15% off redemption requirements.
