Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel - Milking the salesman.

Hey Guys,

Anyone got a sweet deal on an Outlander? I have been trying to negotiate a better deal and so far, it has been weak.

I am looking at the LS 4WD DID 5 Door Wagon.

The guy said sticker was 44k and then when I said redbook says 40k he said he could match that… but not beat it. Does anyone have any sweet deals/tips where they really milked those guys hard?

Car salesmen are notoriously hard done by. Take this salesman, for example: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/166864

      • A good ref. Thanks

Way out of proportion to the ops question. If people don't want to work sales they can always go get a real job. There is no obligation on the consumer to help them feed their family.

    • I suppose you should just donate some money to the salesmen to feed his family then based on that merit. One sale with zero personal commission is still better than no sale because it raises his "kill count" with his supervisors and the stealership. Besides, if the sales person was not satisfied, he can always say no.

Yes going by that logic, then all mechanics are dodgy and rip offs. But that's ok, surely we have enough SCA club credit now to get some free (you don't actually have to pay!!) tools to service the car yourself.

Car salesman only exist to rip you off.
We'd be better off if they were abolished and we could buy cars online. The manufacturers wouldn't be, so we can't.

  • Salesman wants the highest price he can get, you want the lowest. What is new here?

Op… have a look on carsales.com.au and see what is being asked for that model…. also look for Mitsubishi oz owners sites on google for more info…

    Effort gets rewards… research..

  • I was able to get a great price on petrol, but they wouldn't budge much on the diesel.

hi, I note you are in Bris. I bought a near new diesel outlander last november from Toowong Mitsubishi. they sell outlanders to various charities for near cost and then (through mitsubishi australia) toowong mitsubishi then buy them back for a similar price after 6months or 15,000 -which ever is first. (it works out for the charity that they pretty much only pay stamp duty to have the vehicle -or something like that - I forget the specifics).

any way I paid, with about 10,000kms on the clock, I think, around $32,000.

I also negotiated the price down by $3000 from it's original sticker price.

no regrets. for similar "near new" at the time they were going for just around $38,000.

    Toowong Mitsubishi -check them out.

    • mine was a 2013 DID Aspire

  • I just brought an outlander from a dealer in the sydney Metro area got t he best deal. Just mention kevin referred you 0425309700

    • can you please provide specs of the car you bought and price for Syd Metro store

  • Contact her and mention kevin she will lool after you

    • What Kevin is neglecting to mention is that he is probably likely to get a referral bonus. At Zupps it's $200, would have suggested splitting ours with you, given that you're in Brisbane, except I have absolutely no idea of how it works.
