Tiger changed flight - now can't make it

Hey guys, was looking for some advice.

Tiger have changed my flight from Melbourne to Sydney delaying it by an hour plus (from 15.30 to 16.45). This flight change does not work for me as I have a meeting at 6pm in Sydney, and one earlier in the day in Melbourne at 11am.

While on the phone to their call centre, they offered to change my flights to earlier in the day (11.15~) which obviously would not work for me. When I mentioned that, they offered to change my flights to the day before or the day after - which again clearly do not work for me. They refused to provide a refund to me.

I would have thought that since they changed the flight times I would be entitled to a refund. Does anyone have any advice on the matter? Is there some kind of airline ombudsman where I can escalate this to?

    In short - no

You ticked a box and agreed to their carriage conditions when you bought the fare in which it is outlined.

Welcome to flying Tiger…hence the reason I won't use them.

  • Is it possible to get store credit instead?

    • Nah they were only willing to offer a change of times or date. Thanks for the responses guys

Reading through their T&Cs, sounds like you should be able to obtain a credit so maybe you need to pressure them more:

In the event of such changes to the schedule (including cancellations) due to circumstances beyond our control, we will arrange to carry you at the earliest opportunity on another of our scheduled services to the same destination on which space is available without additional charge. If the alternative service is not reasonably acceptable to you, we will retain the value of your fare in a credit account for your future travel provided you re-book within 6 (six) months. We will not be responsible for any losses or expenses you incur as a result of such schedule change or cancellation.

In the event of such changes to the schedule (including cancellations) due to circumstances within our control, the Passenger may elect to:

    • be carried at the earliest opportunity on another of our scheduled services to the same destination on which space is available without additional charge including, where necessary, extension of the validity of your booking; or
    • retain the value of your fare in a credit account for your future travel provided you re-book within six (6) months there from; or
    • receive a refund in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

Unless I'm missing something somewhere else within those T&Cs?

    Reschedule your meeting

  • As jzd says, get right into the T&Cs and email Tiger as ap and ask for the refund.. Also, a charge back on the credit card as the goods or service is not provided.

  • Same thing happened to me i lost my money as they would not refund, f tiger right up the rear.

Just to state what is obvious, if time is critical, then cut price airlines are definitely not the way to go. They have a high likelihood of not running on time, as well as flight rescheduling.

  • In the good (i.e. bad) ol' days you were lucky to not be delayed by 1h 15min. These days it appears Tiger is a well-oiled machine (minus the perks). The boarding process has been crazy fast lately.

So basically you scheduled meetings where you have a 2-hour time window to catch a flight in between. Even regular airlines won't guarantee against delays and flight changes.

There's a reason why the corporate jet market exist.

  • even qantas delays their flights all the time.

when i use to travel for work. i fly after hours or a day before and this was with qantas.
