Hey guys! My best experience has been with QFF and Velocity. 3 years ago, I flew return to Europe on Etihad during some status promotion on Velocity. That instantly bumped me up to Gold. Then for some reason, I was also randomly given complimentary Gold status on Qantas a week before I was due to fly with them to Hong Kong. So now I was gold on both whilst doing hardly any frequent flying!
But the best part was, when my Velocity Gold was about to expire, I updated my Velocity profile to say that I was Gold on Qantas and they renewed Gold Velocity status for another year! After only flying one short haul international with them that entire year. AND when my Qantas Gold was about to expire, I updated my Qantas profile to say I was still Gold on Velocity and they ALSO comped me Gold for another year when I would have just made Silver based on my flying!!
Don't know if the profile updates were any use but it was awesome being comped basically 3 years worth of Gold status. Dreading the day my Qantas Gold expires though and having to go back to the pleb flyer that I am =[
Anyone else receive any unexpected surprises as well from their loyalty programs?
With so many companies and brands now having some sort of loyalty/rewards program also wanted to know how many of those the average OzBargainer would sign up to and whether any of them have been particularly rewarding. I guess most people are aware of the frequent flyer programs, credit card rewards, Fly Buys/Everyday Rewards etc, but have there been any lesser known rewards programs that you've made use of that have been really valuable?
