Website to book hotel in Hong Kong

I'm thinking of stopping over at Hong Kong for a few days, have looked at wotif.com for accommodation. Is there another preferred site for hotels in Hong Kong?

  • I use these guys.

    https://www.booking.com

    • booking . com
      booking . YEAH!

  • I've used Agoda.com a few times, seem to have a lot of coverage in Asia.

We booked a place via traveleasy.com.au which we had never used before, but they were $100 cheaper for 4 nights.
Everything worked out, so I am happy to recommend them.
The other place I would consider is rates to go. They post coupons on here that save a percentage over the normal rates. I haven't compared them in HK, but locally their coupon rate is below everyone else's.

We went to HK about 3 weeks ago. Booked using ratestogo.com which often has 15% or 20% off coupons plus a "Best Rate" guarantee. I did a lot of price research, finding them to be the best price.

If you want a hotel recommendation, I highly suggest The Mira. Very good prices (around $200 per night) and we got a free daily mini bar (drinks like coke, sprite, cans of various tea, San Miguel beer) … but best of all, each room has a Galaxy Note which is yours to use UNLIMITED … yes, unlimited international calls, text and 4G internet. We carried this around with tethering mode on and it serviced our internet needs perfectly (especially using Google maps and TripAdvisor).

…make sure to hit up all the Michelin Star places whilst you're there!

    • Booked this one for our stay next June, good to see a positive review of it. Was tossing up between this and a couple of others. This one got the tick of approval. booked a city rooms and with the advanced rate free room upgrade to the next level. June was a bit more than the $200 a night… more around the $250 mark.

  • I did a 3 night stopover last week and rates to go was the cheapest (using coupon) for me too.

My usual routine for searching hotels is to go to www.hotelscombined.com.au as a starting point (it compares a number of websites) and then the accommodation deals page and compare using the different sites that have coupons available.

  • Thanks guys! I will probably pick something around Mongkok, at this moment Royal Plaza seems to be reasonably priced.

I will probably look for a couple of alternatives along Nathan Road between TST and Mongkok.

So far booking.com works out better than ratestogo.com, will have to look into this further.

By the way, would you recommend any prepaid sim with data pack? I think 300MB should be plenty for the few days I will be there.

    • I used the HK Tourist Sim Card when I was there. It cost $100HKD (about $14AUD)for the sim from 7/11 which includes $100 credit to use on data packs and unlimited local voice calling. Either this or One2Free seem to suit your needs best.

See here for details on all HK data packs and the codes to activate them. It was really easy to use and set up the sim/data pack, no phone calls required just insert the sim and then enter the code. You receive an sms (in English) confirming your subscription.

  • Good place to stay 1 night is Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong, joined to international terminal, good size rooms, club floor is a brilliant upgrade.

Thanks guys! Booked through ratestogo.com, turns out they are hotelclub.com.

Surely enough a 20% coupon was readily available, making ratestogo the best deal among the sites I have searched. hotelclub is slightly cheaper, but ratestogo coupon doesn't work there.

Your recommendation helped me saved $200, cheers! :)

Free room upgrade upon arrival is the icing on the cake, such a pleasant surprise.

Also, thanks for recommending the Hong Kong tourism sim card.

It's available from 7-Eleven at the arrival hall. HK$69 with $25 call credit and 1.5GB data over 5 days is awesome!

The octopus card (to use for train and other purchases) is also available at the arrival hall, and the express train to the city is only few steps away. Gee everything is so efficient!
