I thought this might be relevant in light of the current Jetstar and AirAsia Bali specials.
Is there a way to watch Netflix in Bali on a tablet or the hotel TV via Chromecast, WDTV or Roku?
I currently use getlix via a DNS change at the router.

Thanks a lot for the detailed response.
I will be using the resort's free wi-fi, so bringing my router won't help.
Good to know that getflix should still work in Indonesia.
I remember having a problem getting Netflix to work on my Android devices and WDTV with the individual DNS changes for each device. It worked after I changed it at the router. That's why I was concerned about being able to use it abroad, since I don't be able to use the router.
The resort is a high-end one and is very new, so I'm hoping to get a decent enough connection for a stable SD stream.
You're flying to Bali and then spending your time watching Netflix? Now that's tragic!!!
People have different ideas of what a holiday is. There are actually movie theatres on cruise ships you know.
As mentioned it should work fine altering the settings directly on your device. However if you're not able to get getflix going you could use the free week trial of unblock US to see if you have more joy.
Enjoy your holidays.
Yep. It would be no different to the way you watch it here. You'll still need to use Getflix or another US based DNS forwarder and configure that in your device (iPad, Laptop) but expect the quality to be pretty poor due to the slow internet speeds you'll experience in Indonesia.
It can be difficult to even watch YouTube videos on a good day without them buffering, so your mileage will vary depending on the accommodation you're staying in and how good their internet connection is.
3G is also an option but it would get quite pricey due to the amount of data it uses.
As far as I know the most recent update to the Chromecast forces you to use Google's public DNS which won't work. If you take your own router and can somehow interface that to whatever internet connection you'll be using then it should work.
Not sure how easy / possible it is to manually specify DNS on an iPad. I know it's possible on Android…
