  • I think Kmart sold this for $2.5, but they only has white colour

  • These are actually pretty decent, I ordered 12 last time they were cheap and put them about 1m apart up my drive way. They are still working 3 months later and really bright.

    • Mine lasted a day.
      The solar panel became detached.

      • unlucky, they felt pretty weak when I was putting them on the wall but the weekend after we had 80-100km/h winds and none moved lol

      • In Brisbane I had bad experience with this stuff.
The solar panel is attached with hot glue which trends to melt in the heat of the direct sun here and that is how the panel either detaches or goes askew.
My advice: If you do buy check and supplement the hot glue with some two parts resin.

  • I bought 2 last time and lasted two days after a mofo stole them.

    That's really low.

    DO NOT BUY THESE!!

I bought ten identical ones during a sale from a different seller - these are worthless!

They sit in direct sunlight all day, but after dusk the dim light only last 2-3 hours maximum. They've already gone flat by the time I arrive home at night, so they're no use whatsoever for lighting the pathway at night, which is what they were intended for. That's if it's been a sunny day. If it's an overcast day they just sit and blink for half an hour after dusk, then turn off.

Three out of the ten only last about half an hour at dusk after being recharged on a very sunny day.

Bunnings have solar lights between $2-$6 in their recent catalogue, not the same design but at least you can take them back if they don't work. They also have a pack of ten solar garden stakes for $20. Go to Bunnings instead. Forget these ones.

    • that's really strange, ones I got from myled are still working at 5am in the morning… the sun must charge better here lol?

      • I have other brands of solar light that last all night, but this particular model only lasts 3 hours maximum after a sunny day, and less than half an hour if it's been a cloudy day.

I checked tonight and it was a bright sunny day all day, but the lights had already stopped glowing at 10pm. The entire point of them was to light up my path so I don't fall up the stairs when coming home, but they are flat by the time I arrive home, so they're no use.

It's possible I just had a bad batch, other people here seem to have had better luck than me :P

  • Got one of these, probably the best of the cheapy solar leds I have bought. Actually gives off some light and is a nice design.

The design is nice and the LEDs are bright at first, but how long do they stay lit?

If you only need 2-3 hours of light they're OK, but if you're relying on them to keep a walkway lit so you don't fall down stairs when returning home at midnight, they failed for me.

      • Mine is lit long after all the others have gone out. It is also the first one I put up, over a year ago and it is just as bright where the others have died. I have it up against the cheapies from Bunnings, Masters Kmart and those round roof gutter things.

Have you come across a comparable price led light that stays lit until midnight? Especially in winter. I think you need to consider whether you are being fair to the product at its price range.

  • The solar panel are too tiny i believe to fully charge the battery, and 600mah battery to me sound like 2/3 length AAA not full sized AA. So you cant use these to charge your AAA batteries without some modding.

As long as it's the same model as I have, this uses an AA battery. I took them apart to see if I could improve their crappiness and found they use a dedicated solar lawn lamp driver IC:

      http://www.everychina.com/p-z52db45a-98850902-led-solar-lawn…

The solar panels included do not fully charge the battery even if left in full sunshine all day. The wiring inside was dodgy as heck, half of them had human hair dimameter multi-stranded wires soldered with breaks in most of the strands. Even after re-wiring with thicker wire they still don't work much better. Three of them were wired up incorrectly from the factory, so they would never charge at all, but they still lit when first turned on as the battery was shipped with some small charge left inside.

I took out some of the batteries and fully charged them in a wall charger, then put them back in the solar lamps just to see how long they'd last. The LEDs stay lit all night with a fully charged battery, but the solar panels are too weak to charge them fully. The LEDs actually stayed on for three nights straight after a full charge with a wall charger, but after three days they relied on solar charging, which only keeps them lit for 2-3 hours at night.

As I bought ten last time and found them all lacking, I considered transforming a few by wiring three or four solar panels into one battery, so at least I could get three working lights that last all night out of ten. But considering how cheap decent quality ones are from Bunnings these days, it's really not worth my while. I do like the design though, just a shame it fails.

Those bunnings 10 for $20 sets are dodgy too. Old man purchased 4 sets and at least 25% of them have problems. Dodgy wiring and lights not terrible bright. Bunnings sell a set of 5 bollard style LED lights for $30 which are much better. Nice and bright and give off nice colour.

  • bought it last time and it still going good until now.

    pro- cheap

cons - plastic feeling bit rough design on the edge

the only advise is don't expect the good turn up in 1 week time. Mine was taken nearly 4 weeks delivery.
