Guys
My Sony TV remote is dying.. Some of the buttons are unresponsive (unless you press really hard) and not surprisingly they are the buttons we use all the time.
I've cracked the unit open, and the buttons push metallic domes.. Unfortunately I can't service them. So it has come down to replacing them.
A new Sony remote will cost me $100. It will probably fail again in a few years time, but it will work straight out of the box.
Alternatively, I can ditch a few remotes (BD, Speakers, and TV) and use a universal remote. The trouble is my prior experience with one of these (a touch screen $50 job from DSE) was profoundly poor. And yet, the logitech units seem to get good reviews.
What's the general consensus on universal remotes these days?
Why don't you try and get HDMI CEC working and then you can use one of your existing remotes.
