Hey do repco do installation ?

    • +4

The Repco at St Peters stocks harnesses for head units so that they essentially become plug and play (if you can find the right ones for your car/model/manufacturer), not sure about their other stores.

JB HiFi wanted $80 to install a head unit or something when I bought one there last year, so I just went to Repco/Ryda to buy a set of harnesses for $30 all up. Not sure about Repco since I didn't ask.

For example, if you were gonna go with the harnesses you'd pick these up:

      http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=APP8SP… and http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=APP070

One plugs into your car's existing wiring after you take out the pre-existing head unit and the other plugs into the new head unit, then you join the two ends and voila. Trickiest bit was finding the right one to match my car since they can vary with year/model. Repco only had one harness that was correct, so I had to go to Ryda to get the other end.

      • Thanks, but how do you search for the correct one.
Out 2011 xtrail has steering wheel controls as well.

        • Even if you get it installed, they'll still have to buy the harness for steering wheel control. Usually not cheap.

        • You've gotta match the head unit's manufacturer with one harness, and your car's model/year with the other end >.< Unfortunately you've got to sift through the descriptions for compatibility. :/ If you're unsure, ask about exchanging it for the right one if it doesn't fit before paying for it.

Repco was happy to refund one harness for me because it wasn't compatible, so I had to trek to Ryda to get the other end.

My car doesn't have steering wheel controls so I didn't have to go through that, but bhubb's advice seems about right. :x Maybe compare the cost of installation to paying for harnesses and taking a bit of your time to install it. Dashboard plastic is a bit finicky to remove sometimes. :(

  • Thank you Monty. Picked up a bike carrier single pole. Saved 60%.

Can anyone comment on the difference of the twin pole vs the single pole?
Now need to fix the towing thing - any idea of how much to fix and where in Sydney.
Then to buy a new bike for the kid….never ends.

  • These are an AWESOME head unit. Full 10 stage manual equalizer (this is super rare), NFC and bluetooth.

The 5050BT is better; but the only difference is one less pair of pre-outs.

  • Is the Repco brand TQ brake pads any good??? compared to Calibre brand sold at SCA?!

    Stupid Q:
1 set of brake pads = 2 pads?
How many brake pads do i need for the front brakes? 2 or 4??
Is it true that some cars need 2 pads per rotor and some just need 1?

Car: 2005 Nissan Pulsar N16 Sedan

    • They'll be fine for your usage. You'll need four pads for the front (two on each disc). Usually the one box will suffice.

  • Thanks MM :-)
