I don't normally eat rumpus burgers, but when I do I wonder what the hell a rumpus burger is….

    • I wonder what the hell a rumpus burger is….

"a noisy or violent disturbance; commotion."

    • A burger you eat in the rumpus room? Although not every house has one.

    eat mcdonalds and die sooner

      why ?

Imagine filling a car with bad fuel. A cessation of normal operation would occur to the engine quicker than if you had given it good fuel. Now try and make an imaginative leap, think analagously and pretend that the bad fuel is in fact a mcdonalds burger and that the engine is your heart.

pretend that the bad fuel is in fact a mcdonalds burger

there's nothing wrong with eating a mcdonalds burger, although the burgers are better at Hungry Jacks.

Allow me to qualify my metaphor. Humans, indeed, are not cars. The idea of detoxification is overlaid with the delusion that bodies operate like engines and require a routine oil change.

@jv: There is "nothing wrong" with smoking if you take a moral view or even a desultory, she'll be right attitude……..although your potential offspring may not be so convinced.

So eating one free burger is the equivalent to eating McDonald's for every meal of the day for the rest of your life?

        • -2

@Orpheus: No orpheus. Clearly there is no equivalence. You have made a point.

      • Harsh neg?!

stop arguing with this guy, I think it's good for people to be reminded that Maccas is junk food and isn't good for you.
obviously in moderation it won't kill you, but people forget this is trashy fast food.
I don't want our society to be unhealthy and obese.

        and isn't good for you.

        that's debatable…

No its not JV unless you want to use a rainy day and deny climate change.
Regarding the suspiciously pro Mcdonals experiment you reference (no scientific controls etc) i would ask:
What was Cisna’s blood pressure and other health parameters. His meals exceeded daily sodium intake requirements by 100%!

Eating healthy and losing weight are not necessarily the same thing. The food at McDonald’s is extremely processed. Even with the healthiest choices, Cisna ingested artificial sweeteners, fillers and additives. The long-term heath effects of such foods are not good, even if no immediate symptoms are evident.

          @THE MAD MONK:

I think you're missing the point:

          The burger… is free.

        • @THE MAD MONK: Scientifically speaking, which particular sweeteners, fillers and additives in McDonald's have bad long term health effects to humans? I'd like to learn more about those.

        • @THE MAD MONK:

Sodium isn't quite as bad as we used to think it was for people who don't have pre-existing blood pressure problems.
Even the long-held ideas about lipids are being questioned.
The criticism from the health food movement of "artificial" sweeteners, genetically modified or non-organically raised vegetables, and all "fillers" and "additives" is usually based more on holistic feel-pinions than solid scientific research.

Junk food as a treat won't hurt you as long as in your average day:
          - kilojoules in is equal to or less than kilojoules out,
          - you're getting roughly your rdi of vitamins and minerals
          - you're getting plenty of fibre in your diet from whole grains
          - you're getting enough omega 3s
          - you're not eating too much sugar, and most of your carbs are low-GI

  • Any Sydney equivalent?

    • +1

it's just a 'pop-up maccas'. It will be traveling to sydney soon

      • Good luck getting to Adelaide after Sydney.

         >:D

      • A… travelling… Maccas?

        mind blown

        • yeh they just pack it into a lunch box when traveling, like one you would travel with to work. Keeps the food fresh and undamaged.

      • … And the best thing I'd they you still lived to tell the tale.
