Little Caesars Pizza in Casula Just refused to serve me...

I was hungry and only had $9.30 in my pocket so I decided to go to Little Caesars drive through in Casula NSW. I went there the week it opened and had a cheese pizza for $7.95 and to be honest thought it was good. I went through the drive in and ordered a cheese pizza and gave the lady $9.00 ($5 note and two $2 coins) and then the manager came and said that they could not accept my money as it was damaged. She asked if I had any other money and I said that I didn't. She said her bank won't accept it and that she can't serve me.

I was really pissed off. I got that $5 note from Bunnings and thought I could use it. The money was cut in half but had been taped back together.

I told her I was going to complain on Facebook and she came out after me and said I can do what I want and I told her she was full of shit and she told me to go F myself. I started laughing and left.

I will never go to Little Caesars again.

I think you acted like a child and should be ashamed of yourself.

It's clearly the manager's fault that YOU only had a completely unacceptably damaged note and they would literally lose money serving you, but no, let's shout and swear at the service staff too, because they're not people and your cheese pizza is the most important thing in this situation.

Get over yourself and cook your own food; I can't imagine any fast food place would enjoy having you come to them given this pathetic attempt for attention.

      It's clearly the manager's fault

What's the manager got to do with it?

      a completely unacceptably damaged note

The note is worth exactly $5.

let's shout and swear at the service staff too, because they're not people

Why are people ignoring the woman's actions?

What's the manager got to do with it?

        Nothing. Was sarcasm.

The note is worth exactly $5

Depending completely upon how damaged it is.

Why are people ignoring the woman's actions?

Her reactions were to the OP telling her she was full of sh*t. I think anyone would have told him to F off after that.

        • -3

Depending completely upon how damaged it is.

We know how damaged it is.

I think anyone would have told him to F off after that.

I don't. And I don't think her boss would think much of it either.

    Jokes on the OP.
Should have asked for another note at Bunnings.

Having said that, if I was running the shop, I would have taken the hit/chance for the sake of $5 and made the customer happy.

  • +1

Its in your best interest as a business to keep the customer happy, so I think they have done wrong but in saying this, they can deny your notes if they want. If they take a ripped note into the bank, they get replacements, the problem is that other customers complain about ripped notes if you try and give it to them so it applies both ways. Meh! Depends how hungry you are really. lol

  • Obvious troll is obvious

  • +6

This fool is delusional. Complete lack of insight. Taking his problems to other people's establishments and expecting them to solve his problems. Grandiose much?

Whether its in a business's best interest to keep a customer happy or not, people do not have to serve your every whim. Who do you think you are?

"I'm going to complain on Facebook". Seriously? I'd have to laugh at myself too if I had to resort to that kind of childish threat.

  • +1

SERIOUSLY OP..YOU'RE A JOKE! OH NO..I'M NOT THE OWNER btw…

Every business has the right to not accept faulty notes…it's your dumb idea that everyone should suit you that amused everybody ..

    • +2

      The note is legal. Sigh.

      • -1

I know it's legal, but as you know most business still within their right not to accept it though it can be argued $5 is a small amount.. but the way the OP went about complaining on fb on matter like this just LMAO!

        • I didn't go on fb and I don't even have an account. I just said that out of anger. Yeah I said she was full of shit because she said her bank won't accept it and she said to go f myself which I'm not too worried about.

      • -1

@McFly: Why do you keep on arguing that same point over and over when it is clearly irrelevant?

I haven't read all the comments, but has anyone even disputed the note being legal?

Just because it's legal doesn't mean the business has to accept it.

        • +1

Why do you keep on arguing that same point over and over when it is clearly irrelevant?

Aside from it being the whole point… yes, it's irrelevant.
If the shop didn't mistakenly think the note was not legal there would be nothing to discuss.

has anyone even disputed the note being legal?

Yes. (Including skyl who we are now replying to/under.)

Just because it's legal doesn't mean the business has to accept it.

Sure, but it's a bit silly for a pizza shop to not accept cash - imagine if more shops started doing this.
(BTW, personally I'm all for completely discontinuing cash and replacing it with electronics but there are many issues of course that need to be sorted out first.)

          @McFly:

Aside from it being the whole point…
If the shop didn't mistakenly think the note was not legal

Yes, it's obvious it forms the entirety of the point you're trying to make. But according to OP's post, the pizza shop refused to accept it as payment, they didn't dispute the legality.

So not only is it completely irrelevant, you are now making false accusations to try and make it seem relevant.

Furthermore, regardless of what people actually think, no one is challenging your opinion on whether or not it was the right thing to do from a service standard perspective.

Yes. (Including skyl who we are now replying to/under.)

Where does skyl say anything about it being legal or not?

          TLDR Summary:

The note was legal tender - Irrelevant (The business is still free to decline it)
The shop mistakenly thought it was not legal - groundless accusation (OP never said that)
Skyl is disputing whether or not it is legal - False ("Faulty" isn't the same as not legal)

        • +1

TL;DR: we've spent upwards of $5,920 of our time here discussing this $5 note

        • Yes, and it's making us hungry.
How about we chip in a few bucks each and send out for pizza

        • @Baysew: These pretzels are making me thirsty…

          @Dan_:

He seems to focus quite strongly on the service aspect, doesn't he?

  • The manager said they bank with NAB when I asked and I was hungry and didn't have enough money. I bought a tape measure for $15 bucks from Bunnings and got the note. I never noticed it was damaged as the tape was done really good. It's ok I moved on. I'm not that well off as some may be so I ended up getting a pie and they accepted it at Harry's.

I won't go to Caesars again. They do have a nice cheese pizza though I'm not going to lie.

    • "I ended up getting a pie and they accepted it at Harry's"

And Harry said in a loud voice - Veni, vidi, vici ;—)

    From RBA site

The Reserve Bank of Australia understands that this is the case even where an existing debt is involved. However, refusal to accept legal tender in payment of an existing debt, where no other means of payment/settlement has been specified in advance, conceivably could have consequences in legal proceedings; for example, the creditor may be unable to enforce payment in any other form.

So if the damaged note is considered legal tender then you'd think they were legally obliged to accept it.

    Also

Totally want drive through pizza now!

No debt. Customer was refused service. OzB has 50 lawyers who like to fight amongst themselves. Expect a referenced rebuttal in the morning :p

  • GUUUUYS I TOOK A TAPED UP PIZZA INTO MY BANK AND THEY WONT ACCEPT IT. I DEMAND AN APOLOGY AND FREE MONEY.

  • +1

mate, I guess they could just accept the note, as long as it was not badly defaced or no part was missing but they did not have to!
Apart from that they could not chase and tell you to f… yourself!
after all the note is a note, even if damaged it is still legal note and not accepting it, is so lame!
they could just throw it in the till, what a cheap little business. I mean it was not a 100 dollars note it was just 5 dollars! now everyone can stop accepting notes and coins, claiming its not 100% mint
but the way you put the story into words made you look like fool, mate! why not reporting to their head office?

  • You had the option of refusing the note from bunnings, just as the business you used it at had the right to refuse it from you. Complaining about being an idiot will get you no sympathy here.

  • You can't attack someone over what you claim is an indecency and then commit one back by abusing the staff member afterwards.

I told her I was going to complain on Facebook and she came out after me and said I can do what I want and I told her she was full of shit and she told me to go F myself. I started laughing and left.

Completely reasonable response from the lady. I would have responded the same given such a childish outburst.

I would have responded the same to you. You clearly have no knowledge of the law.

    I was really pissed off.

Quit the self-entitled mentality. You walk into a store, nobody is obliged to serve you. Seriously, they can refuse to serve you for being a complete jerk and there is nothing you can do about it.

  • You can return damaged bank notes to the RBA and get the value back of whatever percentage of the bank note is left.

    • Where are the values of the missing bits of bank notes credited to? That shifty programmer guy at the RBA?? (aka 'Happy Dude')

  • If you are going to give someone attitude, of course they will give it back! Maybe they get alot of those notes and have trouble getting the bank to take it.

  • Yes.. always check the money you receive. It could be either fake or destroyed. I learnt both the hard way :(

One time I was working on site and bought some milk, got a change in form of $5 note which was torn in the middle. I just put it in my wallet.

The very next day, with the very same staff who handed me the damaged note, refused to accept it. And I told her that she gave it to me yesterday, but she must've not remembered.

I know that they have rights to reject the note, but given that the place where I made transactions literally made millions a day.. and staff who are not gonna be held responsible by the owner for damaged $5 note… I'd expect they would take the note in good faith and let it be their lost instead of mine.

I said this because when I was given $50 fake note from local Caltex shop.. I took it back the next day when I found out, and they didn't ask to see proof of transaction or CCTV footage or whatever. They just take it in good faith and replace the $50.

    Just my thought..

But I agree with many.. In the end, don't get pissed for them rejecting you. Get pissed for you not checking your note when you first received them.

    Lessons learnt.

Take the $5 note back to bunnings,
    buy some wood,
    build a bridge &
    get over it.

Am I the only one who feels this is just viral marketing for Little Caesars Pizza? Posts from the OP talk about how nice the pizzas actually are, and the reason for not going back is so trivial to make most people ignore it.

"had a cheese pizza for $7.95 and to be honest thought it was good"
"I won't go to Caesars again. They do have a nice cheese pizza though I'm not going to lie."

After reading these comments, I couldn't care less about how damaged a note can be before it has to be accepted, but I really want to taste the pizza! I'm waiting for OP to say he just can't control himself and went back because the pizza is just too good; then I'll know a conspiracy is afoot and it'll be time to call shenanigans. Let me go get my broom…

  • Am I the only one who feels this is just viral marketing for Little Caesars Pizza?

    Possibly

Im sure you would have been a swell person to deal with. Im not even sure why you posted this. Personal issues maybe.

pathetic OP, pathetic company, deserve each other

  • Hope after this event you have eaten a decent, nutricious meal. Just cooking home marinated roast beef with roast potatoes, fresh veg. red wine gravy & homemade yorkshire puddings - total cost apx. $12.00 for the two of us + will be meat leftover to use. How can a preservative filled, fat filled pizza lacking in all essential nutrients compare with that?
Also with regards to the $5.00 note - take it back to Bunnings along with your receipt, they accepted it from someone in the first place! If it has its' bank number ( which it sounds as if it has) most banks will also take it to exchange.
