Cheap Tablet under $100

Hi there,

I need advice on an Android Tablet under $100 to watch movies and maybe play some casual games on a 8+ hour flight. I already have a Windows tablet but it lasts less than 4hrs.

Preferably:
6+ hours battery life (if possible)
1 GB Ram
Micro SD Card Slot

No need for cameras etc.

Any will do, thank you.

*My internet is capped, as normally I would try to search it myself even though I'm not good at it.

Mono speaker, microphone, headphone jack with in-line microphone support.
Up to 9 hours battery life & 20 days of standby time

    • This one seems pretty good.

  • A lot of cheapies won't have great battery life. Maybe a second hand first gen iPad 1 I am using one now, battery life is great, nearly all apps work ( some need higher res screen or camera).
There is nothing wrong with the original still.

Edit . Sorry missed the android part .. .The kobo above looks pretty good.

    • Battery life can be solved with a cheap power bank plugged into the tablet.

A lot of airlines now have power sockets next to the on-board display system (this was the vase when I went to Vancouver). It had both a USB and U.S. power socket.

        • hmm… I've never seen any power socket in economy class.

        • @raytheguy: I was flying Air Canada Economy if that helps, not sure about Qantas and others. Maybe can call and check up if it will be on your flight (although not sure how reliable it would be)

  • Hi, same here, i'm looking for a sub $100 tablet, but it must be bigger than 7 inches (hopefully 10 inches) as i need it just for reading PDF magazines. Any tip on a good generic brand tablet that has a good resolution suitable for my needs?

For $79, this is pretty decent. Quad-core, 1GB RAM, GPS, dual cameras, decent enough 'HD' screen, KitKat 4.4 etc etc. and it's in-store so no waiting for delivery.
