Looking for a 2-4 bay
mainly for streaming movies, tv shows ect to home theater
Would rather a quality build like synology than something im just going to replace shortly after
I know nothing about NAS other than i need one ;)

Can I put any HDDs in them ? Eg WD Green cavier
…I have a Qnap 419 II, absolutely love it. If you go on the Qnap website it tells you exactly which hard drives are compatible - I would assume synology does on their website as well.
I think generally you want red drives for nas systems but there's discussions all over the web about the benefits/cons of red vs green.
I would also say go for a 4 bay, you'd be amazed how quickly you can fill up a hard drive especially when you'll be wanting near blu ray quality on the projector - dvd quality just won't cut it.
- you don't have to fill all the bays now i.e. you can have 1 hard drive in the 4 bay until you want to add another.
you said it yourself, so go get syno. or qnap. make sure come with usb 3.0 and intel chip
